Hi there! Seeking Conversion Kit advice please.

You will go faster when assisted, you also need to allow for the power of the motor that may overrun a little time when you brake. The end result is V-brakes at the front is not good enough. They will wear quickly, not just the rubber but also the aluminium braking band on the rim. Best to have...

    Help! Legal e-bike kit

No, it does not mean that. You asked for EN15194 certificates, I was looking for them where I downloaded before. Manufacturers do not need to test each and everyone of their product. Certificates are only valid for 3 years but manufacturers don't need to get the same product re-certified after...

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

it is possibly because of the comfort of bikes with big wheels. Suspension on a 20" bike will never be good enough for someone with back problems, worse on 16".

You are right! Bafang has changed their sitemap. Same with Tongsheng. The old EN15194 is now replaced with a new certificate, but not for their TSDZ2 like the old one was. TSDZ5 EN15194_Suzhou Tongsheng Electric Appliances Co., Ltd. Motor Meter Controller (tongsheng-e.com)

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

There are limits to what current technology can offer, even with a large budget. Katy needs a step-through frame, large wheels, large margin on range and a throttle in case she can't pedal normally, extra reliability because it will be her main transport. The Santana3 is really a big improvement...

    Help! Legal e-bike kit

Bafang has obtained EN15194 for their BBS01B kit. Your kit is supplied conform to EAPC rules and as long as you don't change the settings (other than wheel diameter to your correct wheel size), you have nothing to worry about.

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

The centre of gravity: I agree that hasn't changed. If that's a big issue, a front basket would balance the weight. The issue with the Crusa is it's an American sized bike with wide handlebars, 28" wheels with ballon tyres. It can feel unwieldly if you are less than 6ft tall. The Santana3 feels...

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

that's pretty average for a step through bike with 17AH or 20AH battery. The single tube step through frame is about 0.5kg heavier compared to the double tube Crusa frame, the high capacity battery is about 1kg heavier than the Crusa 13AH battery. You also have the NEX fork (2.7kgs) about 0.7kg...

Take a look at the Woosh Santana3 https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?santana3 The Santana3 is smaller than the Crusa, very comfortable, stiffer frame, better brakes, 30% more power, 30% more range, easy pedalling and also a little lighter. This is a bike that you can ride 40 miles without stopping if...

Help! Advice on first E-Bike please

You need to work out if a child seat (or two child seats) is important to you. If you have a child seat, you should go for a step through frame.

New figures reveal 11 deaths from e-bike fires in UK last year, as MPs call for tighter regulations

To be sure, you need to ask your supplier for A grade cells, they then ask their upstream supplier. The supply chain is usually organised that way. It is a chain of trust, long standing working relationships and ultimately backed by product liability insurance for the 10 years from the moment...

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

if you were talking about the Rambletta, it's 20kg heavy but not rear heavy, the battery and the motor are roughly equal in weight (2.7-2.8kgs) and placed equidistant from the bottom bracket, the centre of gravity is pretty ideally placed, near the bottom bracket. It's more like an emtb and very...

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

It's not practical to carry a spare battery. Charging at work remains the only viable option for this distance. Even then, I wouldn't contemplate doing 40 miles on a folding bike in a day. It wouldn't do my back any good. The Rambletta weighs 17.4kgs without battery, 20kgs with the 12AH battery.

At the time I bought the Q128H kit, the KT was just speed controller. Their torque simulation was sold as a separate proiduct with an 'S' suffix. Note: The word 'speed control' is not used by Lishui. They just say their controller is programmed with their algorithm that they have refined with...

Are you using their current control controller? I rode the Q188H that I bought from bmsbattery for about a month. Q128H 36V800W Rear Driving EBike Hub Motor RPM 201 Voltage 48V (bmsbattery.com) It came with KT 20A 6-FET speed controller and KT LCD3. At the end of the trial, I decided to buy...

New figures reveal 11 deaths from e-bike fires in UK last year, as MPs call for tighter regulations

I always stick with 'A' cells from Panasonic or Samsung. I don't make a big deal out of it because the reason is self preservation. If you google CCJ against the two companies I work for since 1981, Solidisk and Woosh Bikes, you won't find any because I wouldn't knowingly take any unnecessary...

I agree. None of the long standing OEMs would shout out from the rooftop that they only use 'A' cells but you would assume that they do, it's just common sense because they have to cover product liability. There is no point to take a chance with second best.

I am always a little irritated whenever someone says 'KT controller is miles ahead' or some such statements. I have bought KT controllers for testing and as far as I can see, Lishui controllers are a more sensible choice. I will of course justify why not just me, but the majority of OEMs buy...
