It's so good we've got two now ...

Suntour CR-8V forks - how to adjust preload?

Well, if it's on the Kalkhoff "manual" CD I can't find it, and surprisingly I got nowhere with Google just now, so ... How do I adjust the preload on the Suntour CR-8V forks fitted to our Agattus? Seems weird to me that there's only a knob on one leg, but actually many things seem weird to me...

Give the customer what they want

Very true. But oh my how things change. They've all got running electric and indoor lavs now. There's even talk of a house in Grantham with a bidet (and in the bathroom too, not in the garden with geraniums in it).

    Price advice please!

Thank you once again, kind Sir. That's very helpful. So is the best way to describe battery condition just to say that it charges as it should, holds a charge, and I can get more than 15 miles out of it - or is that actually meaningless?

    Price advice please!

By way of a try-out to see if The Lady Wife and I got on with pedelecs, I bought a s/h Kalkhoff Agattu last month. I now need to find a new home for it PDQ (new one coming). It was new from 50 Cycles in Jan 2011, so I'm guessing it's a 2010 model, crossbar, 57cm frame, 8-speed Nexus, dynamo...

What is the maximum price you would spend on an electric bike?

Or to put it how we decided the choice amounted to - if you don't need the exercise, rider control. If you do, applied torque. I don't mind being an old git, but I really don't want to be a fat old git :)

What is the maximum price you would spend on an electric bike?

I've just realised that I omitted to say in my reply whether I'd pay a premium for support from an LBS. In an ideal world, yes, but in reality not on your life chum. Unfortunately, my relatively recent experience of local bike shops has not been good. The staff of two of them treat anyone not...

What is the maximum price you would spend on an electric bike?

In our case, £2500. Bear in mind though that we're looking at the electric bikes as replacements for our motor car, which we intend finally getting shut of this year and which should net us £3500 to £4000. It had better, seeing as how The Lady Wife's already bought her new Agattu and I've...

Reserve prices on Ebay listings - why?

Which is a good tactic to use if you reckon that punters looking for whatever it is you're flogging are primarily after a bargain. Where that doesn't work at all, IMO, is if what you're flogging is specialist or collectable or whatever, and your target punter is both knowledgeable and...

Reserve prices on Ebay listings - why?

Exactly. I've just given up with one muppet who "answered" three very simple and straightforward questions about the item he's got listed by ignoring one of them and apparently misunderstanding the other two. He's put a reserve on it ...

Reserve prices on Ebay listings - why?

Hmmm, that makes sense. I guess the problem is actually down to the difference between the real world and Ebay. In my experience, Ebay sellers often set unrealistically high reserve prices, and in my opinion, not disclosing that reserve price when asked via a private message serves no purpose...

Reserve prices on Ebay listings - why?

If you want to flog something on Ebay but you won't let it go for anything less than £50 or whatever, what do you gain by listing it with a low start price + reserve of £50 as opposed to with a start price of £50? My mates and me who can't understand this at all, and therefore rarely if ever...

Bar-end mirror for Dutch bike type bars

By which I mean the old style bars as on The Lady Wife's Agattu 8-speed Ltd Edition step-through. Is there enough scope for adjustment on that Myrrycle one to cope with the end of the bars pointing back so much?

    Flecc 20,000 Today?

Well I've only been here five minutes but this Flecc bloke has certainly been most helpful with my fool questions, so I think the least I can do if he's hit 20000 posts is show due respect

I've just spent too long smurfing the web and still not found the answer, so I have to ask you guys - how much are we talking about for these 'ere Bosch batteries then?

Knocked off my bike this morning- Write off?? Advice?? Fault??

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. What odds she was on the phone? Anyhow, just a thought - personally I wouldn't be happy with the idea of any part of an aluminium bike frame being straightened after it's been biffed. And might it not be wise to get yourself checked over by your GP just in...
