    "Steep Road" ... easy :)

daniel.weck posted: .... That's with a 200W heavy mountain bike, right ? Do you know the actual Watts that the motor draws when riding uphill ? .... There’s nothing in the bikes paperwork or on the original website to indicate what the max watt power is and I don’t have any electrical gizmo...

    Cheap Battery

Just a thought, but have you taken a look at the Endless-sphere site? There’s information on powered recumbents from those who have converted. May give you an idea of what you want :) Endless-sphere.com • recumbent .

    "Steep Road" ... easy :)

Well, I think I have yet to find a place hillier then where I live. In most cases one only needs to travel a mile (sometimes only half a mile) and the road will have gone either up or down by about 260ft. As an example the hill I mentioned earlier is only half a mile long but it raises 284ft...

    "Steep Road" ... easy :)

If that's what's considered a steep road in your neck of the woods, then I strongly recommend you stay away from Cornwall .... Down here that would be called a gentle rise  Try this one for size ;) LiFePo4 Test3 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! At the bottom is a ford so you get wet feet...

Have you used this ebay seller?

Alex728 posted: People from South China and the hotter Oriental countries are shorter so they may be more commonly used there for adult bikes, particularly for ladies. You'll also find some people in the UK who are vertically challenged. I am fortunate in that I have short legs too :eek...

    Puncture resistance 20-inch tyres

Just picked up a bargain ex hire tag-along. I am planning to convert it into a single wheel trailer so I can carry my three 15amp SLA batteries. It will be carrying a lot of weight and I don’t want it to be flat with punchers all the time. tag-along on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Anyone got...

    Paper batteries anyone?

Interesting report about paper batteries, a specific mention is made to powering electric or hybrid vehicles. The article is reproduced below, as these stories have a habit of disappearing after a time. Is this the future? .... Does it mean we will all have to carry a pack of toilet rolls...

    E-Bike Of The Year 2009?

Wish list? :) I would love a Wisper 806fe folder .... but can't justify it. It ticks all the right boxes (for me) but I've never ridden one, so I can't say for sure :( Edit: NEW BIKE .... Wisper 806fe KIT BIKE .... mine if I could iron out all the bugs ;)...

    ebay 500watt/1000watt kits

I've had a 500w for a while but I have to say I'm not that impressed by the overall experience. The intention was to use it off road but it's never been robust enough for enthusiastic use. It’s ok for gravel paths but that’s about all. Regrettably, when fitted to an ordinary (flimsy) mountain...

    A very sad tale

It's very sad when a young life is lost through the actions of such a grossly incompetent driver. Personally I have no room for someone who acts in that way (hit and run) - that's the lowest of the low. Barrycoll .... I definitely will avoid cycling on any national speed limit 2 lane...

    izip trail

The other one to be careful about is sealing up box sections (controller housing, etc) if any water does get in it may not be able to get out - it has happened to a few forum members .... me included  ----------------------------------------------- Cougar Mountain Electric Bike 36v 200w...

Just taken delivery of new ebike

When my bike arrived the box had taken a battering too. Unfortunately, it had bent forks and it had to go back, so well done in being able to use it out the box. It's very similar to my Cougar. The beauty with these lower end priced bikes is there's always room to improve it (LiFePo4 battery...

    Cytronex tips

I don't have a Cytronex, but going by my own experiences: - I don't think turning off the power on any e-bike, going down hill, makes much difference to power savings. That said, my Cougar has a LiFePo4 battery and if it's ridden to cut-out it is possible to squeeze another mile or two out of...

Not a bike its a Scooter!!

Regrettably, for practical use they fall well short of the mark, due to the low powered motors. I wanted one for where I live but I would need a min 4000-watt for the Cornish hills .... but these (high powered bikes) are £4000. It says range is 40miles per charge .... but at what speed? I...

    Bat Bikes on ebay

I’ve had my Cougar for two years and yes it is heavy. It was just under £400 from Powered Bicycles. However, I like heavy bikes and when I now look at other ebikes I find them on the flimsy side. It's a great bike, fun to ride and a "head-turner" as people and motorists notice it. The hub...

    Torque Arms - Panic

It appears I will need a torque arm on my DIY e-bike as well. After several failed attempts to sort out the wiring (DIY battery - three race packs wired together) I finally got it to work today. Unfortunately, the wheel keeps popping out of the forks no matter how tight I do the nuts up. I...

    E scooter or petrol scooter

Your daughter would have to complete a CBT course to ride an electric scooter or the petrol variant .... having just passed her car test does she want to go down that road again? If she is lodging close to the University (and depending on the finances) I would have thought a folding electric...

Trailer Hitch for hub gears, like Agattu

What sort of weight are you intending to haul? 30kg is a lot of shopping  I have a Mule trailer that I believe uses the same sort of hitch. I had to slightly modify mine as it was the power cable side of the bike, so I couldn't fix it to the wheel nut. I used a piece of steel channel...
