    CST - it's all working

My first installation on the m'cycle is simply one main, one dip, paying careful attention to the angling of the dip beam. The other two I get might be the flatter ones and mount them lower down, around the bottom yoke level, so they will be the dips. I think a simple hood might have to be...

    CST - it's all working

Excellent job. I'm looking forward to a pic of your lights in action. I already know what one and two of the 27Watters look like on my road (eye-searingly good), but it's nice to see other roads at night. Later on, I'm ordering another pair of those for the m'cycle - two main, two dip.

Anyone successfully transported an ebike recently to Spain by courier etc?

Yes, UPS prefer ordinary non-lithium cargo, which can be dropped, crushed, run over with impunity. It amazes me they can't simply improve their handling techniques, but that would involve training more monkey and extra peanut expense.

The Great E- Bike Bank Heist

You may jest, but I refer you to the Clydesdale Bank Bicycle Robber... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/the-scot-who-went-from-crook-to-crime-1030697 "He targeted another Clydesdale Bank, this time one in Whiteinch, Glasgow, and Crosbie and the same partner made off on bicycles...

Somehow, the spirit of dodgy car workshops lives on in some LBSs.

    Argyll Forest Park

Lovely place. I was camping in Lochgoilhead when the Chernobyl clouds came over. I don't glow in the dark, much.

    The Tonaro`s weakest part/point..............

Toyo are the bearings of choice for me. I spent some time making bearings and it surprised me how tight the tolerances were for Toyo, and how crap the tolerances were for certain others. Suffice to say, it's put me right off buying certain makes and the cars they got fitted to.

Now this is a light weight bike to add a motor to

Good grief, it evokes nothing so much as MacMillan's bicycle or the Hobby Horse. Kirkpatrick Macmillan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I suspect you got a decent one, then. The ones on ebay now are just cack, and you can't tell from the pics what the quality is like.

    Speed or S Pedelec insurance

I've seen that before when I first got interested in electrifying motorcycles. In 2008 or earlier, batteries were a fearsomely expensive item for any worthwhile range, and there was nothing like the choice of suitable motors that are available now. Those two reasons were why I shelved the idea...

Indeed. That way lies a World of Pain, sometimes only alleviated by a trip to the spark-eroder.

I liked the design of it, but the let-down was the body of the swivel was made of cheap alloy which couldn't withstand much away from near-vertical without bending then breaking. However, I'm inclined to copy it in steel, or simply get a decent centre stand.

    Speed or S Pedelec insurance

If the law continues to be an utter ass about this I think what I might do is look seriously at getting an old snotter Honda /Yamaha stepthrough and electrify it. Simple change of power plant, akin to what I mentioned to flecc about re-motoring an ancient poppop. The smaller stepthroughs, once...

Police Officers, The Law & eBikes, funny video attached.

"Being an ass'ole" is good enough for a charge. Jeez, when I were a lad they made things up as they went along and nobody could prove different. Oops, I accidentally stood on your camera, sorry lad. What memory card is that, then?

Hah. In some parts of the country you try refusing to tell a copper your name and address after he's seen you commit an offence. That cyclist was bloody lucky the cop didn't throw him to the ground and cuff him, then call for the wagon.

First week with my ebike - I'm a convert!
