    Swiss flyer demo!

Where did you find one in Suffolk? Always interested to hear of any e-bike dealers round this way!

    Illegal Bikes

this is true but trying to encourage faster e-bikes before changing this is working backwards IMO (a bit like how 10 years ago in the dot com boom stuff like online shopping was tried before broadband.and a lot of companies went bankrupt this way) but even today (as todays e-bikes have an...

    Illegal Bikes

As a country NL is also prepared to bend or reinterpret the rules (consider the tolerant attitude in certain areas to contentious things such as drug use and the sex industry) so I expect if there was a consensus (very important in NL politics) they easily could tolerate throttle assist bikes...

3E CityLight MK II Throttle Only Road Test

The name 8 fun is an Anglicised way of saying "ba fang" (Bā is Chinese for 8. Its also a lucky number in Chinese culture) Suzhou is a place in South China where the motors are made, more precisely in the "Singapore Industry Park". There are a number of such "Singapore Industry Parks" across...

    Electrified paramedics for Edinburgh

TBH I'm surprised that the English services LAS and Eastamb haven't yet deployed more e-bikes for their cycle response units - I'm fairly sure a Wisper for instance would work out to be same price and running cost as the customised MTBs most of these units use (which have such things as wheels...

Another new bike enters the market

interesting concept, definitely aimed at the "racer" types, including the branding (anyone else spotted the "double entendre?")

    Used Optibike on Gumtree

it looks like a "chav-friendly" MTB - adding a fast motor to this is going to be a cop magnet.. a few months ago riding back at night saw two lads on similar (unpowered) bikes picking up scattered groceries (mostly sweets, yoghurts etc) from the road, their bikes were on their side...

    Illegal Bikes

Otherwise known as Fay Presto, the transgendered magician and former bike courier.... A minor celebrity from the 1980s or thereabouts, fairly opinionated (with a history of left wing political activism..) and quite flamboyant (the machine itself was customised studded with rhinestones) - her...

Wisper: SO hard to pedal without power

my 2009 model is rideable but slow "out of the box" but I think the chainrings may have been changed from 52T on the 2008 model to 48T on the 2009 (mine says 48T on the chainring)

    Illegal Bikes

cops tend to profile younger "leisure time" drivers for greater scrutiny especially at night time, whilst older drivers are often overlooked and those of any age driving to and from "a days work" often get away with all sorts... I've noticed most of the worst crashes in EA happen at rush hour...

Wisper: SO hard to pedal without power

being younger I might have got my sums wrong converting imperial into metric units, but weren't those old style 3 speed Raleigh bikes about the same weight?

Wisper: SO hard to pedal without power

AFAIK this is normal - A wisper or similar e-bike weighs about 25 kilos (considerably more than a similar push bike) and there is also drag due to the gears in the hub motor.

    Illegal Bikes

unfortunately with vehicles its definitely gone the other way. if you read the EADT or Evening Star you must have seen all the recent reports of RTCs involving young people, where the drivers have injured or killed their best friends or lovers through what is blatantly dangerous driving (showing...

    Illegal Bikes

there's a bizzare double standard in British society (I'm not sure if its the same in other nations) whereby nicking stuff or being violent/controlling to another person because they are perceived to be weaker is normally viewed by reasonable folk as criminal behaviour - yet aggressive driving...

    Illegal Bikes

the youngest people on this forum are in their late 20s, those who appear to have the home-constructed high power machines are old enough to be my parents or even grandparents :D many of the smarter teenagers and youths (who have grown up in todays panopticon society) actually know better these...

    Illegal Bikes

at present the high cost of an e-bike puts a lot of younger folk off - I was equally suprised to see the young lad on an electric scooter as I myself had consider them to be more popular with the older folk here, but it does seem like a pointer to the future. I have seen several 20 somethings...

    Illegal Bikes

Perhaps the purge on "wrong number plates" was directed at all motorists (both cars and motorcycles) as thats what cops and VOSA do here. riding back through Ipswich, I have already seen one young lad in his 20s on an e-scooter (he did have helmet, number plates etc), looked like any other...

    Encouraging cycling!

must be money (or lack of it/arguments over who is responsible)? Although UK manufacturing has declined we are still fairly good at metal bashing and carpentry and there are surely loads of companies capable of making the bits for the escalator?

    Treat the Earth Well

I don't see any real difference between this and the Wisper World Tour posts that appear here... its also viewed as much less crass in Asian culture to use philanthropy also as a blatant marketing opportunity (or to talk about business in social contexts).. especially as businesses have way...

    my bike has died!

about a year ago or maybe I remember David posting asking for an extra mechanic to help out Norman - and that someone from a company in SE England was helping Wisper out on a part time basis.
