    Help - too many punctures

Hi Chainring, you really need the valve stem pointing upwards so that nothing runs into it.

    Help - too many punctures

I run Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB tyres back and front with slime tubes at 35 to 40 psi. They are advertised as "flatless" Ha Ha!! I get loads of punctures, probably one every 3 -4 rides. One thing to be careful of with the slime tubes is to make sure that the valve is clean as letting any air...

    Oversize frame, my options?

I've cut the bars down to 600mm on my last three bikes and for me this has improved the handling. It is much easier to get through those gates and gives more clearance around trees on mtb routes. It also positions my hands relative to my shoulders in a more comfortable position when touring.

    Do E-Bikers have "Cyclists Nose"

Well, I'm afraid I do this all of the time. It's not a case of a blocked nose but just the opposite. My nose runs like mad in the fresh air and this method keeps my mouth and chin dry. Worse still is when it happens on the motor bike with a helmet on. My local GP, who also rides a motor bike...

    Rear Bike Carrier Damage

I've had a two e-bike Strada for six months now and use it at least twice a week locally, always carrying two 21kg Cubes. I've also visited loads of forest parks this summer all over the UK mainly using motorways and not had a problem. As the bikes sit in channels and are held rigid by an arm to...

    Kickstand

It's for off road use that I use my kickstand the most. when you have to dismount to close a million bridle gates where do you put the bike? Some you can slam shut behind you but others need a return trip and don't get me started on the large five bar gates. Sods law also states that the gate...

    Bike computers

I have a couple of free apps on my phone (I don't use them) that give much the same information as the garmin. I do use a mobile phone with ordnance survey maps and a free app. Complete UK HD 1:25,000 maps will cost about £130.00. I plot routes on PC and convert to GPX files. App also gives ride...

going over the 15.5 cut off point

To return to the OP's point about feeling the cut off point, I can't see how anyone can fail to notice a 25% drop in assist or even a 300% drop in assist in less than a second. This with my Bosch system.

    Bosch Power Stations

Take your charger and call into any McDonalds. There are sockets under most tables.

Stupid question about releasing rear wheel

But then it wouldn't be quick release. :-)

Home insurance recommendation for ebike cover

On the contrary, I was very pleased that "plod" did bother. I got lots of feedback from the officer in charge of my case (stolen bike) and she went to great lengths to keep me informed of her enquiries.

    Bosch - New eMtb mode

When pedalling hard uphill in eMTB mode I always get a boost by changing to Turbo, therefor I don't think that eMTB gives full turbo when needed.

    Tire choice

Another vote for the Marathon Plus but make sure it's the MTB version. Cheapest I found was Bikester, £24 for the 2.25.

    Comfortable Grips

Ergon GP2 grips are the most comfortable I've had. These come with a stubby bar end which allows you to change grip on long rides. I know - not cool. To get old push-on grips off I dip a long thin screwdriver blade in washing up liquid and push it between the grip and handlebar then wiggle it...

Flat Top Cap Socket Spanner - Fox & RockShox Forks

In all my engineering life I've tried to shy away from adjustable spanners. Right from my apprenticeship 55 years ago I was told "if a job's worth doing it's worth using the right tools". I still despair when I see an adjustable spanner, usually on the floor with all the other tools, at my LBS

    ETA Bicycle Insurance

I put mine on my Legal and General house insurance last year. They charged me about £40 including an admin fee. When it got stolen three months later they paid out the full £3000. This did put my premium up next time by around £80 but I recon I'm still in front. Plus when the bike was found I...

    Bicycle Alarm system?

I had one of those under seat alarms and it worked as I could hear it going off as the thief rode away on my £3500 Trek. He probably just put the boot in it when he got out of site.

Bosch CX Motor Initial Service Indicator

I'm on my second spanner icon which has been on for two months now. I do all my own servicing but when I got fed up of seeing it the first time the dealer removed it and said that he could set it to come on at any interval. Never thought to ask if he could turn it off completely.

    Skinny Off Road Tyres

Can anyone help with my tyre confusion? My rims just say ERTRO 584 x 30 (23" I assume) and are fitted with 27.5" x 2.6" Nobby Nics. I recently tried to fit some 28" x 1.75" Land Cruisers. Only 0.5" difference I thought, until they went completely over the rim. My rims are 23.5" diameter and the...
