Do You Wear Full Face Helmet?

I have a full face DH helmet i used to use when i was doing a lot of downhill mountain biking. This is because the risk of falling off when doing something stupid like downhilling is exponentially higher than just riding along normally. I do wear a helmet most of the time, but i'm aware of...

    Hydraulic disc brakes

For hyraulics with a cut-off, look at the Magura MT2 which is what is fitted to mine, and many of the high end european bike, They have a cut-off and work... well better than anything i've ever tried, Hopes, Hayes, Shimano, Avid (SRAM), the MT2 beats them all, and it has a proper sized lever...

    Battery Conditioning

The best way I've found of extending the life of lithium batteries is not letting the voltage drop too low per cell, and charging at a sensible rate. Of course if you get them hot by fast discharging you would be doing them harm too, but that's not likely on a legal bike.

    Battery Conditioning

Allegedly running it flat (or as flat as the BMW allows) and then charging it up to full for 3-5 cycles is best for them. In reality I've never seen any real world evidence to support this on modern lithium chemistry batteries.

    Hydraulic disc brakes

The level of fine control with hydraulic discs is something you can never get with cables. You can hold the brakes at the point where you can just feel the tyres braking traction fairly easily. Cable discs are more prone to grabbing. At the limit of hard braking you will skid more with any type...

    Yamaha Electric Moped has bombed

For the original price, users are going to expect at least a 30 mile range at 30mph. My bike goes further and faster, albeit with pedalling.

    KTM Machina Cross

You do realise you can open up the suspension seatpost and cut down the elastomer (rubber spring) to make it lower? Or even fit a rigid seatpost. 50cm does sound much too big for someone 5'4" though. My bike is 50cm and i'm 6'1"...

Clearly not, and neither does the Grauniad journo. My ebike will never completely replace my car. It just means i use the car a lot less.

The High Peak Trail ride, 5th October

Yes, it was an excellent ride Phil, i'll do a bit of a write up in the main forum sometimes this week. Skipton to Saltaire (16 miles each way) for the next one, or possibly, Skipton to Leeds (30 miles) and return on the train? Or of course the other way around?
