Guinness World Record for the furthest distance travelled on an electric bike!

Exactly so. It would come as news to the RTW leccy bike travellers, I'm sure. Marketing BS, again.

    What a horrible looking thing.

    Tyre Blow out

Good for you. However, there are many of us who drive smaller, cheaper cars who are quite happy to fit 40quid tyres. Not all the cheapish ones are crap and it does you no favours at all to look down your nose at those who might not own a flash motor. Honestly, there's some right b(((ocks talked...

Any Excuse for a Ride (2)

Was that station ever part of the Great Western Line? If so, 7ft was the gauge for a while, iirc.

    Bike gear back in Lidi

The bike gear was on sale here (Ireland) last week and I purchased two of the LED light sets - excellent setup and superb lighting for v.cheap. I haven't fitted the Far East saddle yet, but it seems ok - some sort of report on it will follow :) The HD bike lock is substantial, but probably not...

Another Newspaper Article - E Bikes

I see the usual lycras lining up in the comments section to sneer and castigate the whole idea of motorising bicycles. Stuff 'em.

Why do people think 25km/h speed limitation is safe?

Interestingly, I found that by simply replacing my cantilever brakes with Avid V-brakes, whilst still using the original bar lever, I suddenly had a system that would throw me over the bars if I wanted. Honestly, I've never had such brakes on a bike before. Then I found there's a small...

    I am so sad......

To be fair to Bosch - I only recently replaced a green mains SDS one with a Makita after nearly a decade of hard trade use. The Makita is loverly, though :) I also have a Bosch 12V SDS cordless which was ex-BT (and who knows how many holes it drilled before I got it) - a decade on and it's...

Can I make a battery pack with these power tool batteries?

Hah. Care to tell that to the folk who've done everything right and STILL had a bang/fire/flare-up? As I said - outside, or not at all. I wouldn't take the chance of having a LiPo battery indoors.

Can I make a battery pack with these power tool batteries?

And yet, it doesn't seem to bother the Fatpacks - six in parallel are quite happily working away. It was the fit-and-forget nature of the Konion cells in the Fatpacks that appealed to me - rather than LiPo and always be wondering if my workshop/house was going to go up in flames. I might do LiPo...

    Lidl Crivit LED lighting set

LIDL Superb. I bought a pair of them and then bought another pair for the g/f - marvellous light output for the price (for any price). When I think of the gloworms I used to have way back when, I wonder that I saw anything at night.

Can I make a battery pack with these power tool batteries?

You'd need a lot of them. However, I've done it with Bosch Fatpacks (36V, 2.6Ah), six of them in parallel. Charging is a doddle - just use one of the removed charging adapters and stick it in the charger, the charger/bike connection is simple flex. Check EndlessSphere for Bosch Fatpacks and absorb.

    Fat Frank and wheel

Yesterday I didn't even bother to put the pressure gauge on, as the tyre was still as firm as it needed to be. Another trip down to the village and back, with no problems. Today it's holding pressure fine and dandy. Mussels: it's 26x2.35 and on a Claude Butler Oracle mtb, c.1990.

    Local interest

I've been in and out of my local village numerous times but today I got noticed by a local character who kept calling people over to look at the electric bicycle. Much interest ensued, with several asking if I could patent it. I wish. There was some genuine interest shown in the prospect of...

    Fat Frank and wheel

Update: Yesterday morning it had lost 20psi overnight, so I re-inflated it, and took it out for a short jaunt. By crackey, it rides like a dream on this. Today, I needed to air it up again, but it had only lost a few psi, so the action of using it had distributed the latex mix all over the...
