Any update/experience on alternate battery and controller options to use with Swytch front wheel ? ( eg. Geeko)

Do you mean Yose? Yose use lishui controllers as far as I am aware. You can have whole kit for 400. https://yosepower.com/collections/e-bike-conversion-kit I can recommend Yose. Good value for money. Much better than Switch.

Would you? For starters this guy was saying CYC X1 Stealth has something like street legal mode. No, it is not a legal motor. It also costs a fortune unfortunately. It is also a very unfair comparison. One motor is rated 250W, another is 1500W. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine...

How to Build a Bike That Will Last (Almost) Forever

Most people don't build their bikes. They just buy them. Much cheaper and more effective.

Here you are: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/batteries-charging-routine.45703/post-702537 This guy says how dangerous it is.

    charging up battery

Wrong. When charged to 100% battery is in most volatile state. Charge to 100% before long ride if you have to. There is no need too charge from 95% to 100% if you are planning only few miles trip to supermarket.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

It is not the battery capacity that is the problem. Motors with 500W rating will draw more Amps and this is where problems will start. Get right battery with good quality cells and all should be fine, but I see where corners could be cut and risk of fire increased.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

I meant EAPC laws as a whole, not only in relation to 250W limit.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

and it works quite well through current regulation, common sense and basic physics laws. One can take 250W rated motor and make it work really hard at 750W or even 1000W if it is required with some modifications, but push to hard - lets say to 2000W and you will most likely end up with a burned...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Clearly intention is to raise power limit. Introducing new power definition would have an opposite effect. Main purpose of this review is political IMO.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Continuous rated power as specified by manufacturer is just a certain class to which motors are assigned to. I don't think there was ever an intention of measuring motor power.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

I would suggest review of your system parameters. It is clearly not up to the job. Reasonable increase of Amps should help. If not, then maybe change of a motor and battery. Ask Guerney. He should know how to squeeze more omph from Bafang motor.

Well... you should be. I have seen how you ride and had chills on my back. I totally understand why you need all those lights to be visible.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

That is an uphill battle. In car you are nice in cozy while riding on bike you are exposed to elements. Yes, it might work in city centers. I don't think there is a person left in UK who would expect fast arrival of ambulance. ;)

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Again I agree with you. However allowing high powered mopeds without registration plates pretty much everywhere is exactly an opposite. People like unregistered mopeds exactly for that reason - no responsibility and no accountability. This forum is full of moped users dressed as cyclists...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

What is the plan then? To turn our roads into what is happening in Pakistan or China? We already have to many lunatics on roads who have no idea on how to ride/cycle/drive. I must say I quite don't like a thought of my child being mowed down by rapid fatso on rapid fat bike who can only move...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Absolutely! This is exactly what we need! I wouldn't use word "menace", but risk for other people will increase. I have no doubts about that.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

It is not that simple. Bikes are not allowed on pavements, but... are allowed if a cyclist is afraid to cycle on road. And which one of us is not?

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Yes. Just keep mopeds where they belong - on roads.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

YouTube is full of vids of this being done by normal people. I didn't do it, no. I have it on my bucket list though. So how does it work? You don't want them on bike lanes? But you want mopeds to be allowed on shared paths? At this moment I don't now even a single converted bike in UK that...
