Running additional circuits off main battery

Okay ... what am I missing ? Does it make any difference whether I use chips (seems the boards come with 4 chips each limiting 350ma current and if you don't want to use all that or want to use the in-built current limiter chips then you actually have to take them off). Don't the chips and the...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Mutter mutter ... T6 heatsink and melting housings ? ... what what ... hmmmm ... where's that beer ? PS - here is what has come back from the Marwi light guy : Sounds like a one-stop shop after all potentially : Marwi Bullet - XML - 2800ma Multi Mode driver - Page 2 So I can just pre-set...

Weather in Oz at the moment slightly variable

It was 10 degrees down in Devon a couple of days ago. Cloudless, no howling wind (for once) and down to a t-shirt mowing the lawn at 2pm. For a blissful hour or so I got that wonderful reminder of what Britain can be like when the weather's nice (awesome). Sea temperature is up to 10 degrees...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Oh I SEE .... (I think ! lol) ... i.e. put one of these : http://www.el34world.com/Misc/bike/images/Img_6710.jpg in one of these housings : Waterproof 3W 1000~1300lm LED White Light Motorcycle Headlamp - Black (12~80V) ... and then nick the 3W driver to put in a Marwi housing with...

Running additional circuits off main battery

:). I have one with that auto-function on my Kalkhoff - it's one of these ... B + M Lumotec IQ Cyo RT senso plus 40 lux at a low price in the online bike shop www.rosebikes.com ... but it's for dynamo powered lighting and the main LED isn't a patch on a CREE.

Running additional circuits off main battery

Got a feeling if you go and push 36v at a T6 LED it will simply go bang  but what do I know ... except never seen them run at more than 9v. Yeah with lights of that spec I would have them on all the time - they will use next to nowt in power. I see your point tillson. Guess it's a case...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Ooh ... now I'm getting all excited lol. AND .... my first ever DC-DC converter just turned up in the post. It's one of these ... and it's 1/10 the size I thought it would be  (read mm as cm ) so I'm no longer bothered about how many I have to have and hang the cost lol !! Now...

Running additional circuits off main battery

That is exactly what I'm planning Geebee. I actually want 4 lights hooked up ideally : Setting 0/1 : Tail light on and 1 x T6 (comes on when lighting isolator switch turned on as default) Setting 2 : An additional T6 comes on Setting 3 : The final T6 comes on In each mode the...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Hi tillson ... OK if you've tested the converter and are sure it only runs warm I am more reassured on that point. I keep dead-ending with no understanding asking things from one angle so sometimes the only way is to go at it from another and another until you can get to the understanding you're...

    Building in CREE light

So basically a 3.7v @ 1A lamp driver board capable of being wired in to a circuit with remote switch activation and which fits in to the lamp housing. Hmmm. Now you see, that never occured to me lol. If I climb up to the crows nest tonight looking for that it'll probably be man overboard ! :)...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Aha ... by the sounds of it then, the limiting factor is the DC-DC convertors not being happy with more than 1-1.5A (probably where I got the 0.75 from by halving that without logic !) ... thing is a decent converter with heatsinks is pretty chunky from what I can see and I'm going to need a...

    Building in CREE light

Scimitar I nearly danced out of the room with excitement when I saw this - it's like the answer to a prayer ! However ..... on closer inspection we'd still need to find an alternative driver board which allows the light simply to come on when current is opened from the handlebar switch. All the...

Running additional circuits off main battery

The dimmer light is beginning to move up the brightness curve :) OK this is starting to make sense now. I've been reading that Marwi site and looks like an answer to all prayers ... except that the driver board option doesn't seem to come with an "on only" option (lights would be switched on...

Running additional circuits off main battery

My tool expenditure is running into the hundreds of pounds now and won't be using most of the stuff once my bike is built so need to be sensible about buying lots of tools for one job. I'll buy one if I have to (still resent paying 5 times what you can get the same thing with bigger crimp slots...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Was that one like these ... LM2596HV DCDC Step Down Converter Adjustable Heatsink | eBay Just noticed it says output power 10W or less on that one .. I'm still struggling to work out how many Watts running say 3 CREE XML-T6 lamps in parallel would output and how much current...

Running additional circuits off main battery

Hi Mike - I keep avoiding this owing to the ridiculous prices I keep getting quoted - the latest one from RS was £348 and not found any below about £25. What's really getting to me is that a combined wire stripper and crimping tool for household electrics is about £5. When the tools cost that...

Running additional circuits off main battery

OK that's really helpful - basically what my mind is fixing on first off is that I may need to swap out the Deans Connectors for something more suitable for taking 3 wires off each pole - one each to the two new DC converters and the other to the controller. I could only just fit one 12AWG wire...

    Indicator lights

No problem - I'll try to get them off in the post to you tomorrow. Aha - makes sense actually when I think about it ! Sorting office run tomorrow to collect on the pile of cards - hopefully they'll have your package with the connectors and throttle :) Just whilst I have it to mind - is the...
