They have always had that. By giving them vast amounts of fake news, distortions, lies,as you know. By subverting parliamentary democracy. By manipulating a national referendum, holding a country hostage to try to resolve its internal struggle with a xenophobic right wing.

Erm, you do realise the tories single handedly landed us in this mess by trying to neutralise its lunatic eutrophobic fringe?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There is an obvious strong link between ukip and brexit, and to call ukip xenophobic would be an understatement. There isn't a reasonable case for brexit, economically, politically or philosophically. It's not a reality, its a destructive regime the extreme right are trying to subject a...

I'd go a step further, the hostility has much to do with recognising an internal foe - a xenophobic, often quite racist, anti human rights (anti ECJ) right wing that deserve much more hostility than it gets for what it's doing to the UK and Europe.

You ask all the wrong questions. Enlightenment will have more to do with asking yourself what really motivates Boris, Reese mog hard brexit.

This is the most rank hypocrisy I've heard all day (and I got up early), being born in the UK is a silver spoon (as opposed to a prostitute in maputo) and that's before one gets into the entrenched inequality here, public vs private schooling, where ones parents bought a house, etc etc. You have...

When brexiters parade this kind of binary thinking I feel a sense of pity. You are ill prepared for the compromise and moral ambiguity may is about to shower you with

Damn, yes, hopefully without trump though

If it weren't for Tom's astute analysis, I'd never get this. you were, literally, referring to the Second Coming (JC). That changes everything (no one will be selling planes after that).

Indeed, reread that paragraph, it's about usa protectionism, others are simply reacting to that. I'm not convinced that kind of trade relationship beats the one we had with eu that gave us airbus, concorde or the channel tunnel. No need to read between lines.

you're wrong https://www.economist.com/news/business/21729469-row-between-planemakers-has-become-political-boeing-takes-flight-hypocrisy I realise the headlines from the sun or express fit better with an anti-corbyn agenda. and I'm very sorry to burst the bubble. but on this occasion, as with...

no, you're trying to make this about corbyn. I thought that went out of fashion after tereza failed so miserably at it before the snap election? Boeing gets massive support from the federal government http://trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/docs/2010/september/tradoc_146485.pdf this isn't about state...

yup, if trump does that to Canada, that quick trade deal with brexit uk that is going to save us should be just "fine"

    Brexit, for once some facts.

yes, except the country voted brexit. sure they were duped by Boris Gove and Farage. But its no excuse. the electorate put excruciatingly narrow knuckle headed xenophobic self interest before national interest. its a bit like voting for trump and expecting intelligent leadership. sure we had...

ironically I have the opposite problem with Boris - that he assumes paternity for anything that vaguely looks as if it may propel him up the slippery slope - for now very hard brexit (while may is weak and he can use it to challenge her leadership to prop himself up as an alternative). he's not...

I'm British, and when it comes to hypocrisy we(ie the British) are positively Olympic. Every nation no doubt have their foibles, but that doesn't change the fact that may, cameron, Blair are very much the norm

as in the mature rational way we do on the thread? this little body politic has always been rotten. slavery, colonialism, inventing concentration camps aside, there's jabez balfour, Marconi, profumo, archer, etc etc etc. Blair Cameron and May are very much a continuation of the the norm. they...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yes not so long ago (although it feels a very parallel world) Cameron was adamant that turkey has to join(Google it if you don't believe me). If the EU were a spouse she'd have a divorce from the UK on grounds of insanity. Bizarrely, with all the Orwellian distortions floating around I fear...

I'm sure that fantasy makes you feel better about your uncertainty (and takes some of the angst out of that that nagging void at the heart of the brexit feelings). sadly its not supported by fact. the thread has consisted of some good arguments for remain. And a mixture of personal attacks, fake...

What is it with you brexiters and fake news? Eu export to USA around twice to UK for that year, and declining since.
