Is there any point adding a switch?

I sometimes wonder about you guys. Why would you want a big bulky and expensive thing like that when you can just connect the connector. The little snap noise never hurt anyone. The only time you need a switch is when you have a removable battery that has delicate terminals, but then it costs...

You don't need to tear anything. You probe those pins on the back of the connector that you can see in the photo. I'd use the 200v DC setting for everything. That will be ccurate enough and saves messing about. You need the matching jack that fits the socket, which is a standard 5.5mm jack that...

    Grease, will any sort do?

Any grese will do. It's only to stop noise. Get whatever is cheapest or use whatever you already have.

That's probably the reason why the battery is not performing very well. Before going any further, you should check the battery and the charger. Looking at the picture of the BMS, I can see P- on the left side where the thick black wires is fixed. You need to find B-, which is where the thick...

Is there any point adding a switch?

It depends on many factors. Sometimes there's a bleed resistor to ground to drain it off in a very short time for safety, as the prongs on the connector are effectively live. After disconnecting the battery, put a screwdriver or anything metal across the pins on the controller side connector...

Your picturein post#1 clearly shows that the kettle socket is the discharge socket to power the bike and the 5.5mm jack socket is the charge socket. You should only charge through the 5.5mm one if you want to avoid an explosion and fire. Whatever connector you have on the charger, you must...

Bicycles are easy to fix, though, like anything, you need a couple of special tools. All bicycles require maintenance, generally, the higher the price, the more maintenance they need and the more expensive are the parts.. The middle-priced bikes tend to be the most durable. You'll want to...

The controller also checks the brke switches at startup. If a switch is on, it'll give an error code.

    bike want s to go

It can't happen. The controller won't give power after switching on until it sees a zero thottle situation. It's a safety feature to stop what OP is describing. We need more info instead of making wild and incorrect guesses.

    bike want s to go

Can you be more specific about when it happens. There's no logical way it can do it just by switching on. Do you have to touch something first or move the bike? What sets it off?

Is there any point adding a switch?

The volts are too low to give you a shock. The electricity can't get through your skin. It's completely harmless to you. Only metal things need to worry because it eats them. The current flowing is thousands of amps and the power is transfered at hundreds of kilowatts, but it only happens for a...

Any cheap Chinese bike can do that. The cheaper ones all have similar parts that are quite robust and durable. Look for one with a rear hub-motor and 5 levels of assist via an LCD control panel. There are some good bikes from Woosh, and Juicy have some quite nice ones for a little more. If you...

    batteries and chargers

You need 42.0v to charge a normal lithium battery. A LiFePO4 one requires a 43.8v one. Is there something special about the battery? Can you show a listing of it? Where did you get it from?

I had to replace the ignition switch on one of those bikes. I don't think they're up to the job. The one I fixed didn't work at all.

    Cyclamatic powerplus controller fault ?

To explain the wiring, the 5v for the throttle and PAS leaves the controller in a red wire. It goes to the throttle to power the sensor, then back to the pedal sensor via a white (?) wire. I can't remember whether the switch is before the throttle or afterwards. It makes no difference. You can...

Is there any point adding a switch?

A switch won't help you, wspecially one rated at only 20A. The inrush current is many times that, and it will burn the switch contacts or etch them away until they can't work. All you've done is shift the problem from the connector to a switch.

The sensor being backwards is not a problem. It wouldn't work at all if you had it the wrong way round. You know you have to change gears to get higher speed from the motor?
