if you wire any dongle in to a motor a software update could brick it and stop it working but cant say i have seen anyone on here have it happen to them yet. a bad ass dongle clips on to the speed sensor and can be removed in seconds but will show half speed on the display.

id get it replaced under warranty if you can and no they wont test it for a dongle just box it up and send it back to yamaha they cant even open the motors in warranty.

i ride my bike on and off road so rolling resistance does not matter to me only puncture protection i have had not one thorn in my tyres since using the sg ones. with the standard version of the tyres i had so many thorns in the tyre when i pulled them all out i could not seal it up again lol...

forget a hub motor for off road stuff the spokes will come loose in no time so get the mid drive 750w and the biggest batt you can fit in that triangle. if you get the programming cable you can up the power for more speed but it will eat in to the range the faster you go.

they only remove the speed limit they wont give you any more power from the motor but top speed will be about the gearing so bigger front sprocket can sort that.
