    Smartphone controlled AA batteries

True much gets lost in the enormity of CES And I accept your point on smart phone batteries Don't really accept point on niche market as not all have smartphones. In uk we hit the 50% mark in may 2012 ie half of all mobile phone users have a smart one. That figure only going one direction...

    Smartphone controlled AA batteries

@mike interested I why you believe the battery is an issue ? An AAA battery plus gizmo fit in same space as the AA battery would. And I would take that gentlemans bet as well - once these kick starters hit the tech press , as this has, they tend to accelerate. Also usually get a flurry at the...

    Smartphone controlled AA batteries

Thiseems like an excellent idea for gadget geek (like myself) Tethercell makes any AA battery-powered device controllable via smartphone I can think of a couple of ebike uses immediately for those with IOS or Andoid powered smartphones 1)For you lights in winter. I have four lights so...

Best option for road and light trail use?

The efficiency arguement against hubs is much discussed across other MTB forums. I'm not sure I quite agree with flecc here (*gulp* did i just say that ! :) in lab conditions then yes, old school mech is more efficient. In the real world where mud, grit, water and other crud gets into the...

    Longer, faster, more!

Ahh thank you , not sure what the actual calculations were behind the chart. Hmm, that is a bit quick then although I'm only 73kg I'll have a think, might get it anyway as its only 119 USD and try an build a light fast bike that is hopeless at hills !

Just a wild expensive wayout random thought question

Oh an yes, in no way am I proposing this as a cost efficient idea ! It isn't - it would be bonkers for sure !

Just a wild expensive wayout random thought question

Sorry, I was not very clear there. It would add around 2.5 kg as you say which is not a huge amount IMHO but the total weight depends on the bike you start with. Some of the haibikes are just over 20kg for example Agreed re the tongxin power - but that's the idea here - dual drive. One for...

    Longer, faster, more!

Hi again About to order my battery and notice that I could get a 323rpm 350w front motor at the same time I think this would give me around 23mph real world top speed in a 700c rim (based on a chart i found at ES) Any glaring errors in my thinking please ?! Many thanks Kirstin

Just a wild expensive wayout random thought question

doesnt need to add that much wieght For example, a great addition in mybook would be fastwind tongxin front motor to a crank drive bike. Assuming they use the same battery (i.e both 36v) you use the crank for hills and switch over to the tongxin on the flats for high speed (way over the...

For the all weather cyclists - fantastic deal jacket

and at 300 quid (or even £200 when in sales) this is still very very pricey so I'd hope so ! Out of interest in what way is the neoshell better than goretex please ? I've never had a goretex leak as yet ? Or is it more about breathability ? To haul the thread to ebikes - I really only...

    Longer, faster, more!

Really useful stuff - thanks very much I thought it was possible to increase speed without upping voltage (appreciate you can a bit with a better battery - ta Jeremy ) but seems you cannot ( I had the mark 1 torq bikes in mind that I read about - believe thu did 21 on 36v -somehow ?) Lipo is...

    winter riding

I ride every weekday whatever weather Personally I swear by Gore jackets. Utterly waterproof and wind proof. If very cold then I wear a fleece underneath. Plus gloves and one of those buff things which keeps neck /ears/face warm ( essentail baldy man item in my book!)
