    Brexit, for once some facts.

There is no contradiction. You just don't realise how big the portion of trade that relied on the 4 freedoms that EU member states have like building work, music festivals, stock market, bank loans, insurance, reselling goods that came from outside the EU. We don't have that kind of trade with...

They only transit in France, like Spain, Italy or Belarus. Their destination is the UK. For many years, like you, I didn't get it why they don't choose Germany where life would be definitely good if not better. Then I understood that they choose the UK because they speak enough English to get by...

Disabled cyclist; with one bad choice behind her, needs help with a new bike

I still have the Gospade somewhere in my warehouse but we haven't continued with that project. The Tongsheng TSDZ8 is probably the nicest crank drive kit we have now, also, the Tongsheng 85TS is a rear hub, very lightweight, excellent kit that is easiest to fit too...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Humour is fine, and albeit we are not neighbours on the opinion spectrum, I like your contribution. This thread has nearly 111,000 posts, a lot of people have contributed to it over the years and possibly one of the best in this forum on an important subject that matters to all of us. By and...

I didn't change a thing. Panels have different chemistries. That means that the panels you have at your house may contain some but most certainly not all of them greater than just traces. I reckon you know that already but are just bored so just wind me up for a laugh. Still, I bet you can't get...

It's not full of toxins! The harmful materials are not in organic compounds. If you spent 7 years at university to study chemistry like I have done, you'll see solar panels as benign rather than dangerous.

Give me a digger, I'll clear it. Seriously, the glass can be simply ground down and returned to sand.

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

There is always room for improvement but compared to the amount of concrete and steel used in the average power station gas, diesel, biomass or nuclear, the amount of dangerous materials in solar panels is absolutely tiny. I guess we will see more perovskyte panels in the future because of...

You can't get a ROHS certificate if it's that dangerous. The tiny amount of dangerous chemicals are not even in the panels which is made of silicon. I bet you don't know where and what amounts of dangerous chemicals are in those panels.

EVs come with self driving software so servers are necessary but it's not just EVs. You have the same for high performance cars, no matter which fuel they use. On balance, would you rather stop all the software updates?

How much storm water would get inside the panels? Most of the materials used are impervious to water anyway (glass, aluminium, plastic, rubber, electric cables etc). Nothing soluble comes to mind. I think you exaggerate the amount of harmful substances in modern solar panels. Lots of them have...

Same issue when the time comes to disposal of your car. Compare with the amount of poisonous substances that your car is responsible for in its life, solar panels give fewer problems.

Do you know how muck selenium, arsenic, lead, cadmium there is in a modern solar panel? Tiny amount if any. The active film itself is only 0.2mm thick, the rest is to protect it against the elements. Solar panels last for 25 years, comparable to your car. Look into the future. Do you want your...
