Did you ever measure the voltage coming out your charger to make sure you are getting 42v? This is the first place to check and i dont think you confirmed this.

From that picture it looks like your motor has spun out from the dropouts and possibly twisted and broken the motor wire loom? From the picture its hard to see, can you inspect the cable where it leaves the motor to see if there is any damage caused by the twisting of the motor to the wires?
