    Education help needed

P05 is 0 for pedal assist only, 1 throttle only, 2 both working. P07 is probably the number of magnets in the speed sensor - normally 1 or 6. P10 is probably 0 throttle disables and 1 or 2 6km/h and full range throttle. P11 is exactly what it says, but I guess it's how many PAS pulses before...

    Brompton Cute Q70 question

It can climb very steep hills without pedalling because of the huge torque it gets from the small wheels. The downside is that you'll be down to 4mph or less and possibly overtaken by people walking. On the flat and slight hills, you get good assistance to about 12 mph, after which power ramps...

    Adding a Torque sensor

They are indeed both cheap Chinese imports. Neither of those were made in UK. Freego always had speed control controllers - some of them very rudimentary indeed. Freego were always relatively cheap Chinese bikes with higher than average UK prices because you were paying ffor their good support...

    Adding a Torque sensor

The main disadvantage with torque sensors is simply that you have less choice about how hard you pedal. With a decent controller and cadence sensor you can pedal as hard or not hard as you want in nearly all circumstances. It's not about being lazy. I can see some advantage for torque...

    Pendleton user manual

Don't forget to demand your manual, which they have a legal obligation to supply. Until people sort this out with them, we will continue to get one of these posts every couple of weeks, which is becoming tedious.

    Battery question - Pendleton Somerby

It's illegal for a bike shop to sell you an electric bike without a manual that shows how to charge it. Go back to Halfords and demand your manual. If they won't give you one, inform Trading Standards. Your charger probably isn't broken. Most likely a fuse has blown. You'd need to test with a...

UK - legality of thumb-throttles in DIY conversions

That's a gear shifter, not a throttle! It's the same as the one on the bike in the photor. I hope you didn't disconnect that, thinking that it was illegal.

    volt pulse ebike

The answer is yes. The question is how? There's normally a way in through the LCD settings, otherwise you can change the controller and LCD to suit yourself.

    volt pulse ebike

I'm not sure what you're saying there. Many bikess have 6km/h throttles, which are completely legal to work independently of pedalling. A full speed independent throttle is not legal on bikes sold after 2016.

You can get round that by powering the LCd from the battery side of the converter.

Are "Axle Release" levers safe to use on hub motor wheels?

????? They'd probably be OK on a bike with steel forks, but you're asking for trouble using them on light alloy forks. They seem completely unnecessary to me, and not worth the risk. Why would you want them unless you want to fit your bike to a roof rack or something like that?

    XF07 on 20" wheel

Most 36v controllers will work with 12S voltage (44V), but you'll have the wrong low voltage cut-off, so you need to keep an eye on the voltage and control it yourself. You can't rely on the BMS to cut off. I see the converter has it's own LVC so maybe OK - if you can figure out how to set it...

    XF07 on 20" wheel

In a 20" wheel, you'll get good power and torque up to about 12 mph, then the power will ramp down to give a top speed of about 14 mph.
