Dan, did you have to modify the caliper mount position to cater for the larger disc, and if so how?

    BBS02 Top Speed

similar spec here.... BBS 02, 48v 750W, Alfine 8 IGH, 26" wheels, Battery supposedly 13aH, 48V controller sat at 22amps, 46 chainwheel and 18 rear cog, full throttle on flat ground approx 25 mph, could change gearing for more mph but i really value its climbing ability more.

    Gaadi double-ended inner tube

Only downside is that you have to trash your original tube to get it out, not nice if its newish and a patch will do

The dangers of buying electric bikes with custom batteries

Not that extreme really, could end up burning the house down if it goes wrong. it`s got too much of a heath-robinson contraption look for me

    The new best headlight

The only negative about most of these lights is that rubber bungy strap holding them on, i have it on mine and it always moves about. Isn`t there a proper bracket thing we can tighten down properly with a screwdriver?

    Well it's ermm..... unique :)

The problem here is when too much of this sort of tat gets out onto the public highway it`s going to draw the wrong sort of attention. The electric bike community don`t need scrap like that posing as an electric bike.

News: Tern launch their first folding e-bike, the Elektron

The price, and that long throw rear derailleur, too long for small wheels, going to snag easily..

    Bafang chainwheel

and whats your wheel size, 20, 26, 29 ?? Alfine 8 +BBS02 here with a 26" wheel, 46t chainring and 18t on the Alfine, will probably change to a 16t for a little more top speed.

Hub gears v derailleur on an E bike.

Out of curiosity what sprocket are you using on the hub? i started with a 20t, changed to a 18t but i reckon i could go down to a 16t to get a bit more top end speed, just don`t want to loose that climbing ability.

Post office doesn't like my battery!

MyHermes or Collect+. `a cycle part` will suffice, they don`t pull the parcel apart to check.

Hub gears v derailleur on an E bike.

yes, in my case the frame dropouts are vertical so i couldn`t pull the wheel back to tension the chain, hence the tensioner to take up any slack.

Hub gears v derailleur on an E bike.

just on the subject of chains for this hub, maybe someone could advise on what chain is most suitable from these KMC items? http://www.kmcchain.eu/chain-e_bike-singlespeed-wide or any others recommended?

Hub gears v derailleur on an E bike.

I`m running the exact same hub on my BBS02 750w conversion, so far so good, apparently the 11 version has a lot of issues if you do a search, in fact even with the 8 speed there`s three or four gears too many i reckon, with the torque on tap you`ll find yourself changing two at a time. much...

    Hi from Stuttgart

Welcome Alex! You sure it`s Germany you`re living in?! Not typical of German efficiency at all, and the 696 miles per Motor will strike a chord with many Impulse users in here...lol!! btw, i have a nice Mercedes c220 cdi here if you`re after something more reliable ;)

How do the BBS converted bikes ride?.

If you`re going to go with the 02 there`s a new version, the BBS02B, apparently with upgraded internals etc, see here https://electricbike-blog.com/2016/07/12/bafang-completely-redesigns-the-bbs02-and-tells-no-one/

    BBS02 500w versus BBS01 350w

yes, well put culy, as long as you dont let the motor bog down on the hills you`ll be ok, keep dropping down the gears, also on the level i see me backing down the PAS so i feel some input to the pedals again.
