    Approved ebike list?

I would think that anyone with home insurance has third party liability insurance. I know I do. That insurance covers me for up to £5M if I injure someone whilst riding a bicycle. If my bike was judged to be illegal (not a bicycle), that insurance would not cover me. I would need some sort of...

    Approved ebike list?

From what I understand from the various threads and my own reading, it would still be illegal even if it was EN15194 approved. This is a somewhat ****ty state of affairs. I am not really bothered about being pulled over and having the bike examined. That is so unlikely that I scarcely give it a...

    My bike conforms to EN15194

I'm not too worried by this because as Jeremy has said, the DfT have given assurances that they would not support a prosecution. However, I'm not happy about the traders, 50 Cycles in this case, stating that their bikes can be used legally on British roads. Taking into account what has been...

    That will do. Thank you.

    My bike conforms to EN15194

Sooo, when 50 Cycles sold me my bike and they told me that it was legal to ride it on UK roads........ Who is telling the truth here, d8veh or 50 Cycles? The two statements can't co-exist.

I detect the stench of the insurance industry's presence in the construction of that report.

    Magicshine battery dying quickly

That sounds about right. It's very similar to nuclear fusion on setting 3. A mini star on your handlebars!

    Magicshine battery dying quickly

I ordered that light and one which looks like this arrived. I'm not disappointed, but just curious if there is any difference good or bad. I suppose it just comes down to which particular product the factory is counterfeiting on any given day. Anyone else had a similar experience?

    Magicshine battery dying quickly

I agree. A nicely sealed converter unit with a voltage input range from 24 - 36 Volts and an output of around 8 Volts would be ideal for ebike use, especially as you can now pick up very good LED lights which operate on this voltage for around £30.

    Magicshine battery dying quickly

Thank you for that Jeremy. I'm sure that I have read / heard somewhere that the 3 LED front light will work on a fairly wide range of input voltages, up to 12 V, but without confirming this, I don't want to risk damaging it. The converter which you have linked to seems appropriate when compared...

    Magicshine battery dying quickly

I have been intending to create a lighting supply which is fed from the bike battery for some time now, but other jobs always get in the way. I have this front light and a Magic Shine 3 Watt rear light and want to supply them both from the bike battery. Can anyone advise or recommend a DC-DC...

£3K to spend, what would you recommend?

That looks like a very nice bike and its one which had escaped my attention until now. I especially like the fact that it has hub gears, which is a must for me.

    What's your protection against cold?

I use these gloves, these socks and these boots. You won't suffer cold hands or feet in any weather that is thrown at you.

At this time, let us all spare a few moments to think of those who will be alone this Christmas. The lucky b@stards.

    Approved ebike list?

This thread has interested me and I have been following it closely. It has certainly brought a lot of new information to my attention and some very good points have been presented, clearly as a result of reading and digesting the legislation as it currently exists. I don't think that there...

    Approved ebike list?

You are preaching to the converted on this one. I used to have no time for risk assessment until I found a way to make it work for me. Now I'm waiting for delivery of this beauty: Just need some snow now.

    Approved ebike list?

I feel like I am the iceberg to your Titanic. Slowly you drift toward me, inevitable is your humiliating destruction. I just penned that one Dave, whilst sat outside a very nice pub on a beautiful afternoon dog walking session. The froth around my mouth is from a pint of Black Sheep and very...

    Approved ebike list?

I think this is exactly the point we need to be aware of. Whilst riding around for commuting, leisure or exercise purposes, the chances of being caught on an ilegal electric bike (one that resembles a bicycle) are extremely low, probably bordering on similar odds to a lottery win as someone has...

    Approved ebike list?

No need for the thick skin Dave, I have been dealing with scum for years. The only point that I am making is that I believe that it is wrong to lie, to make false statements, and to pervert the course of justice. I am clearly out of kilter with your way of thinking because you perceive a person...
