Is it road-legal to restrict a 500W motor?

1000W? surely not ... Have you thought of the probability that the wheel will come off?

    Battery lights showing RED why?

yes, the outer LEDs are always red LEDs. They are not multicoloured. The two middle LEDs go out first.

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

you are right of course regarding the UK sales. Continental sales are very different. If you thesis is correct then Bosch should start making hub motors soon.

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

more people ride crank drives than hub drives, can you explain why?

    Battery lights showing RED why?

Andy @ Woosh is not in this afternoon so I can't confirm but if I remember correctly, the there are 6 LEDs at the back of the CD batteries, they are symetrical. The two outside LEDs are red, they correspond to about 15% capacity left, the next two (which are LED 2 and LED 5 from left to right)...

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

no, it's about 11% at the steepest point, about 7% most of the circuit but I could test out various ways to understand why the chain crunch. I think the explanation is the motor runs the chain too fast when going to another gear. As cyclists, we just know how to do this, we can feel the chain in...

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

I spent an hour testing the theory going up and around Palmeira Avenue, Westcliff, up to the railway bridges then back down to the sea front. You can check on google earth to see how steep it is. Without PAS, the gear change is slower but crunch free. If you want to try, remove the PAS disc, you...

    Crank drives and derailleurs.

I went to see Woosh yesterday to try out their new Big Bear LS and borrowed a Sirocco CDL. I asked Woosh to unplug the PAS so I can test out my theory. Without PAS, no chain crunch. My hands and legs just went through the motion: let go of the throttle, change gear, throttle back up again...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

jimod is an athlete, his max speed is 35mph, mine only 24mph. Basically, it's down to maximum heart rate. By kind of extension, if I can get 24 miles out of my battery, he'd get 35 miles out of the same. You can always test your max speed for 2 minutes pedalling flat out and keep the record to...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

kudosdave, these are my views. I am sorry you don't like them. Perhaps next year, you and I should race up Park Street, you in your Secret, mine with my BBS01. I am willing to fit a thumb throttle to my bike in order for it to climb all the way up Park Street without pedalling. We can also race...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

john, The Woosh website quote 20-30 miles on flat road, hence power consumption = 13WH per mile for a standard rider in ideal conditions. For your reference, Bosch quote about 9WH per mile for their bikes, it's not because their bikes are a lot more efficient, they simply ask the riders to put...

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

you can't have torque sensor and throttle active at the same time, it's either.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

I too don't like the half size split throttle on the Sirocco 2. You've got to operate with your thumb and index finger, rather awkward. throttle on the Sirocco 2:

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

only a couple of their bikes have gear shift on the right. I think the Sirocco 2 does. Your memory is pretty good, the Sirocco 2 and Big Bear have same frame shape. Big Bear is their biggest selling bike, no wonder they don't have stock in Cambridge.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

the Big Bear has an index shift, full width throttle on the right grip with a red button to cut off the throttle if you don't want to use it. Not revoshift.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I don't know for sure, but I do know that they run out of stock on the popular models that's why Hatti and Andy could take time off in June. The Sport bikes are not their big sellers though, all the 2014 bikes are painted bluish gunmetal colour.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

they don't always listen to me. I think the next batch of Sport CD (some time in September/October) will have kevlar tyres, 12AH or 15AH battery and detachable mudguards.

The K1047 is nylon tyres john. Replace them with MP+ if you want puncture resistance.

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

yes, it has a throttle. You can switch between torque sensor and throttle sensor. I'll try to make one to test the idea with a XOFO built-in motor torque sensor and a KU63. http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46608
