    Brexit, for once some facts.

that's true for any country. There is a recent article telling the story of Acorn/Arm. Herman Hauser of Acorn asked Intel if Acorn could modify one of their chips. Intel execs laughed and told them to go away. So Hauser and Curry took on 2 engineers to design their own chip which was used in the...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

we may fail in generating immediate profit but in the long run, will attract much more both internal and foreign investment. It's much better policy than borrowing to buy out foreign investors.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

.. if you look at investment only because the dividend is good, you just turn the country into an investment bank. You should consider the role of state investments as seed investments in new technologies like renewables. Instead of borrowing to buy EDF out, consider borrowing to build wind...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

we gave given up borrowing to invest a very long time ago. Successive governments borrow only to buy votes.

although that is correct, our situation is not the same when Corbyn left (Dec 2019). Our borrowings went from 80% of GDP to over 100%. consider the alternatives. Can we borrow a vast sum of money to buy out EDF for example?

I can see the small satellites being used in emergencies if the main GPS systems are down but for accuracy, you need to have superior and accurate positioning of your satellites, clock and other reference systems. Some professor of physics explain that without relativistic correction of the...

I am not sure that tiny satellites can do GPS because they lack the thrusters to reposition themselves. In the future, GPS can use stars instead of satellites.

I am not sure that satellite internet gives good return on investment. Their clientele are those who live far away from mobile phone masts and it will probably shrink over time.

having the clutch in the main gear is what the BBSes have. The up side is that the pawls that act as clutch are stronger, longer lasting and support higher torque that the needle roller inside the blue gear. The downside is the pawls are noisy (like when you spin your freehub) while the blue...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I was originally against all RNA/DNA based vaccines but the risk analysis persuaded me to take the jabs. Luckily I did not experience any side effects. My reasons for opposing those types of vaccines have not completely gone away. However, I am happier with protein based vaccines. By October...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I stopped following the development of covid vaccines after I caught covid in last January. Still, I think the new RNA/DNA vaccine technology has had a useful financial boost albeit that only a few companies have received it. The newest approved vaccine is Novavax. It's protein based so should...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I view covid vaccines as partially successful and vastly oversold. I caught covid once back in January this year from my grandchildren and it was no worse than a cold. I am pretty convinced that the 3 jabs did help preparing my body.

it's not what he did (food & drink). It's his attempt to avoid scrutiny (no, that did not happen, all rules were followed at all time, and I wasn't there etc) . His apologies sound insincere so the charge that he lied to parliament will probably be upheld and for that, his ministers can't...

yes. I usually avoid making remarks on personal preferences for one kit among others because although we try to maximise their advantages and minimise their disadvantages, they all have pluses and minuses. If it's your first conversion, my recommendation is not to concentrate too much on the...

    DWG22 Motor noise

the noise comes from the friction of the 4 ballbearings around the motor's axle. As the load increases, the friction increases so does the noise. Without a load reference, I could not make any deduction from the sound track, whether your ballbearings are shot or not. When Andy comes back from...

    DWG22 Motor noise

there is usually an explanation. When Andy gets back, I'll ask him to open up and take a look at the motor that has been returned. There is only one issue that I know of: you must never use the motor where there is salty sea spray. The salt in the water will corrode more or less instantly all...
