    Brexit, for once some facts.

The ministerial code is quite clear that lying is not allowed. Whether it gets applied or not is another matter. Remember Profumo was effectively kicked out due to misleading HoC rather than any other single factor.

It isn't the offence in itself so much as the lying that must have occurred if he did visit again (as well as what appeared to be lies in the earlier accounts). If PM has not seen the evidence he claimed to have been persuaded by, or if the evidence he based his decision on is actually lies, it...

A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

I meant it. :) Well done. Was it a team of volunteers? Just a few friends? Agreed by the council? Checked by building control? (Only out of interest.)

Had it actually been allowed to fall down, the costs of checking, making it safe enough even as a pile of rubble, etc., would likely have been vastly more than a basic and timely repair. Looks like you have done a pretty darned good job there. There is a not wholly dissimilar bridge just...

It wasn't long ago Hancock et al. were insisting that local authorities had all the data they could possibly need. Now we see that they haven't even been asked to sign GDPR/DPA agreements so simply cannot have had access - and will have to sign to get access.

Even the USA now has a covid contact app. Well, a state: https://www.macrumors.com/2020/08/05/virginia-covid-19-app-apple-google-api/ The link also mentions Canada's app.

How do they express a quota of "none" - nothing allowed at all?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Just read that again. What is a "zero quota"? Reads to me as a quota value of zero which would mean none could be imported/exported. Shouldn't it be "no quotas applied", or "infinite quotas"? Or is this some sort of legalistic accepted form of words for such discussions?

If the reviews are real, they are talking about 50, 62, 75 km/h. Which is pretty fast on a skateboard with a stick. I suspect that at least some of those who are so pleased as the speed will come a cropper - eventually.

Seems to check out! But shouting rather than singing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53161280 Perhaps they should reduce the price of a track? Half the volume - half the cost.

I think that is the current Trump approval rating. Not any vote, as such. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/

Carefully worded. 43.6% of the vote. Very close to Labour + Lib Dem - despite the factors that were driving Labour down.

Obviously listened to Johnson saying not to compare the UK with rest of world. Funny how we are supposed not to do that for covid-19 cases and deaths but are supposed to appreciate the world-beating app, testing, tracing, etc., ... Comparisons are odious. But not as odious as not doing...

UK’s first e-scooter trial scaled back amid widespread misuse – including underage riders zipping through shopping centres

Looks like it could be fun - albeit with obvious reservations. (Which obviously means that I should be allowed to play with one whenever I want but nobody else can.) Yesterday I was on the coast and being bothered by some sort of petrol engine - couldn't see anything on the water or in the air...

Sensible point but if it isn't on hire scooters, the story is grossly misleading.

Classic. If underage users are gaining access, how is that happening? If driving licence holders are hiring then letting underage users use them, they should lose their licences. If it is not that, then the operator must be incompetent.
