Anyone remember covid alert levels? :D Did the alert level get changed for Leicester? Or is it an absolute nonsense? If we can't have different levels depending on local circumstances, we might as well not have it. But we all know that the politicians are dead set against being seen to raise...

It would be amusing if the report referred to "Arron Banks", "Arron Fraser Andrew Banks" or even "Mr Pink". 'No, really, there are no references to "Mr Banks" at all.'

Are they still fitting hard drives to laptops/notebooks? Wouldn't touch a machine without an SSD of some sort! My experience is that even a small SSD makes such a huge difference, you'd be better off downgrading almost everything else in order to get one. Certainly it makes more difference than...

If England is an island, it implies that, for example, the Isle of Wight isn't a part of England. Why then, choose it for testing the English track and trace app?

I've put "Informative" but, in reality, it was plain as a pikestaff this situation would arise. (How plain is a pikestaff?)

As I see things, smaller companies in the EU (and elsewhere) will not want to register with HMRC. So everything they send will be subject to Border Force/HMRC inspection and levying of UK VAT. But I suspect some either won't want to, or simply won't, remove their local VAT. Resulting in double...

On occasion, I have purchased from amazon.de or amazon.fr (though I try to avoid Amazon altogether, if feasible). I guess that is effectively out of the window now.

There is so much that is wrong with the guidance. The bits that are highlighted to me do not include some important things. Like the abolition of the low value consignment relief. As we are regular purchasers of various items from overseas, this has significant impact on us. Not just that it...

Did someone say that Johnson hasn't actually got many friends in his own party? Senior Tory accuses Johnson of blaming NHS for government's Covid-19 failings Exclusive: Andrew Lansley says ministers made mistakes over lockdown, PPE and testing Can't say I believe it, but we can hope: When...

Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it. In 1914: Well, I thought the same as everybody else. Everybody said ‘It’ll be over by Christmas and you’ve got to get out soon, otherwise you won’t see anything’. But I don’t know if it was my opinion, or if everybody was saying...

The ban on using USA chip placement software is surely an impetus for China to develop their own! Seeing what else China can do, I'll not be in the least surprised if they come up with software which is at least as good, possibly better, than the current USA software. In time, it might even end...

That was pretty much the direction my comment was thrown. :) It is pretty amazing that it looks as if 5G has been agreed and implementation is well under way with just three effective network suppliers. Just why has everyone else agreed to take Nokia, Ericsson and (until now) Huawei? Not even...

Interesting to speculate what level of herd immunity would stop the apparent acceleration of cases in the USA! Just why would our level of "herd immunity" without ever having caught covid-19 be significantly different to the USA? Perhaps BSE, foot and mouth or some such induces immunity?

It's hard to contradict Johnson admitting ignorance. Similar confusion about masks and shops. I guess there are no longer any sandwich shops. If you must wear a mask in a shop, but do not need to when buying a sarnie, ergo places that sell sandwiches are not shops.

The government still didn't act for another week (approx.) despite this: Vallance told the committee that SAGE advised the government to impose lockdown measures “as soon as possible” on the 16 or 18 March. He said this happened as soon as data showed further restrictions were needed...
