I don't know what they called them (probably not what Google translate tells me is Chinese for nightingales - 夜莺 - Yèyīng), but didn't China build at least one huge hospital in ten days (or whatever)?

What are the odds on this doing anything useful by 1st January 2021? I can't help seeing an eight hectare red button labelled "PANIC". Vast Brexit customs clearance centre to be built in Kent Exclusive: council given only hours’ notice of emergency purchase of 1.2m sq ft ‘Mojo’ site...

44 million pounds, as a fine, is a huge amount. Can we assume G4S will have all other public sector contracts revoked and handed to companies which don't commit such fraud? Thought not. Can we see any of those who were involved go to gaol? Thought not. G4S fined £44m by Serious Fraud Office...

At the time when they actually theoretically became available, I was under the impression that there were several issues which meant they could not be used very much. Including lack of appropriately trained staff (most potential staff were already working in existing hospitals), transport issues...

I thought the issue was more the transmission in the first place to that child, then on to others (children and adults - within and without the school). We do not (yet?) know where this child became infected.

Most of our delivery people are very sensible - something like put it on the mat, ring the bell and walk off. They do look back to check you are taking it in! (Have to say, most of them are friendly, efficient and sensible. Unlike where I used to live.)

Lies, lies, lies, and more lies. The paperwork requirements inevitably hinder GB/NI trade. Steve Baker, a Conservative, says we must get Brexit done. Can the PM confirm the Northern Irish protocol won’t stop the UK applying whole-UK tariffs? Johnson says the protocol won’t lead to anything...

Over the past few months, we have seen and heard more people "broadcasting" from their homes using very modest webcams than ever before. I can put up with relatively poor video (so long as it is not freezing and breaking up) but bad sound is very difficult. Getting older and having a notch in...
