    Brexit, for once some facts.

they may not be fit to but still fitter than the rest, Russia, China, France and UK. The role should perhaps be given to the EU which has a more consentual program and ideas.

Help! ebike won't reach full speed!

That's why I fitted the woosh rambletta with 8 speed cassette, smallest cog has 11 teeth instead of 13.

Help! ebike won't reach full speed!

6-speed shimano freewheel on the back wheel, the smallest cog on it has 13 teeth. You have typically 40T at the chainring on folding bikes, 20" x 2" tyre circumference is 1.565m, you'll need to spin the cranks at 25000 * 13 / (1.565 * 60 * 40) = 86.5 RPM to get to maximum legal speed (15.5mph...

Help! ebike won't reach full speed!

The controller in the image is a Lishui controller. The white connector is indeed the programming port but you can't reprogram it yourself and there is no point doing that as the controller does not limit your speed but other things such as motor constants. If you can't reach 15mph, the usual...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think the problem is made much worse whenever Americans voted in a republican potus. Clinton and Obama were OK.

    Brakes.

they made things that people made in their own countries and often of worse quality but sold them for a lot less. Over time, that lead to economy of scale and gradual improvements on both cost and quality, then onto innovations.

New e bikes with small ah batteries

I did something like that with my Brompton. I have a small 4AH battery for zipping around Southend and a larger 13AH for longer rides. If you use HL battery case, you can have 36V HL batteries in 10AH, 13AH, 15AH, 17.5AH and 20AH.

New e bikes with small ah batteries

it's not the e-bike's fault. The battery is used to make up for the difference between energy required to maintain the bike's speed and the rider's own physical input. On flat roads, that assistance is useful against headwinds.

If you were going to buy a bike to convert....

hub gear has perfect chainline, avoiding the dreaded chain noise when you change gear and prolonging the life of the transmission. I know that Shimano recommend lowering the power when used with their hub gears but it's rare that a hub gear ever fails with a BBS01B, I personally have not seen...

Putin must have thought that the West is so corrupted that we would not have the courage to do anything.

    Help! Quick release cables

the Swytch kit has fewer connections compared to a common kit because it has the 5-pin LCD on the removeable case. You would need 9 wires for the motor plus 3 wires for the pedal sensor. The Swytch can reduce that number to 11 by sharing the 5V and GND between the wheel and pedal sensor. In your...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I did the £1 challenge once, about 10 years ago. The challenge is to feed myself for one day with just £1. Condiments and fuels are allowed. I found it extremely difficult to last more than the time of the challenge. Eating cheaply is possible but you have to have the time to do it. Still, I...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

pot noodle is poor value for money. You pay at least 50p for 100g of pasta and the equivalent of a stockcube. It may be OK for emergencies but can't replace a meal nutritionally. If I have only 50p to buy food, I would spend it on a potato and a chicken thigh.

If you were going to buy a bike to convert....

if you are going to fit a bottom bracket motor, buy one with hub gear. If you are going to fit a hub motor, keep in mind that you would not need the smaller chainrings with an electric motor, single ring crankset is fine. If you are buying a mens bike, look for a downtube with a flat top or wide...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have the impression that the conservatives are prepared for a changeover at the top. The Queens Speech is un-interesting, the plan to sack a quarter of the civil service is going to cause a lot of problem, the plan to trigger article 16 in the NI protocol is a non-runner, and there is still no...

E-scooters 'are five times safer than bikes' - Study by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

they said in their studies that 94% of the accidents don't involve the hire e-scooters, so they have to make guesses. Their first guess is 20,000 e-scooters are from the hire companies, 730,000 from other sources. I don't know how they come up to this estimate. Only accidents involving hire...

    Help! Torque arms

you have to fit a pair of torque arms, so it does not matter (the torque on the motor axle is clockwise on the left side, anticlockwise on the right side) but for aesthetics, the middle picture looks better than the first.
