small electric air taxis would make hundreds of small islands inhabitable.

If I remember correctly, the BBC interviewed the guy who runs the drone delivery program and he said something to that effect, "Drones don't fall victim to bad weather or tides..." RMG also trial the same drone to deliver mail to the Isles of Scilly...

I've seen on BBC news Royal Mail operates currently electric drones to deliver mails to scottish islands. I reckon they will go more and more electric. There is no reason not to. It's cheaper to start with.

look at the cost of fuel. £5 worth of electricity can fly 8 people across the Channel. There are lots of electric air taxi projects and electric drones currently in development. Also, look into the total carbon footprint of trains against planes. The e-bike is currently best but e-planes will...

the test flight of an 8-person Cessna earlier this year was a success: QUOTE: It’s a far cry from the 200-300-seater jet that takes you on weekend city breaks or work trips, never mind the huge double-decker planes that cross continents. But the “eCaravan” test flight was a success. The two...

I am looking at required investment at the national levels. Would we need HS2/HS3/HS4? more motorways? or put money into electric planes?

probably hydro-electric. All the small spikes can be dealt with by the trans-national interconnects. It's only when we have a conjunction of no wind, no sun, no gas, no hydrogen for days and nuclear power is down for maintenance.

there is no contradiction/we are in broad agreement between my post and yours. Road transport will tend to diminish and air transport increase over time, assuming we have already replaced fossil fuel with electricity.

Do PF30 type PAS sensors exist?

Did you follow the link I gave you? https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?hubkits#rhpas The design is very simple and should be easy to copy using a small amount of 2mm aluminium sheet (5cm W x 4cm H). Cut a piece of cardboard 5cm W x 4cm H to see if you can slide it in between the seat tube and the chain...

you only have to look at the land use of various transport methods to see where they are going. Air transport is the way of the future when we have electric planes.

Do PF30 type PAS sensors exist?

yes, you can glue the magnet disc to the chainring with double-sided adhesive pads and make yourself a seat tube adapter. I make the adapter in 3 different heights to suit different bikes because of the location of the front derailleur. https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?hubkits#rhpas

to be fair, their excuse is while they know the case rate is up, they don't know how long the hospitals can take on Covid patients. I am pretty sure they'll do something in 5 weeks, by the end of November.

Much of their emission is from goods they produce for the whole world. If we add up all the emissions produced by goods we import*, our total carbon footprint would be at least doubled (2%). I agree we should buy more durable, higher quality goods. *estimated to be 449 million tonnes in 2007.

that saving is only possible if all the electricity is produced from renewable. We currently get only 43% of our electricity from renewable sources, transport and factories should be prioritised over gas boilers for going electric.
