Just what does this statement say? Boris Johnson’s condition improved on Wednesday, with the UK prime minister now sitting up in bed and “engaging positively” with the clinical team, the chancellor, Rishi Sunak, said. Johnson remains in intensive care. Sitting up is standard, so I believe...

And the headline that shows what a shower we have: Lockdown until May Ministers fear making decision while Boris Johnson remains in intensive care At this rate, the decision will be made so late as to cause its own problems. Further, a review after three weeks means three weeks. They can't...

Afraid I couldn't read past the first para or so. Yes, PM is in an NHS hospital. But what does she suggest should have happened?

Good to see some seemingly very simple ideas tested - and looking good. OK, only one tiny little bit of what is needed, and only the PPE, but... Abstract The response to the COVID19 epidemic is generating severe shortages of personal protective equipment around the world. In particular, the...

Thank you for letting us know. It's tough not even being able to hold the funeral.

Just how long has it been for Hancock to work out that he should do something about this? He's been telling us how many millions of tests he has bought - and now, obviously, he has none. It should have taken no more than thirty minutes for him to do this. That would allow Hancock's half hour...

Wales is well ahead of Downing St. I just cannot understand why they appear not to be simply having a quick review and annoiuncing the lockdown will continue with a "next review" date. Wales to extend lockdown The Welsh government has confirmed the lockdown will be extended in Wales. Housing...

From 1951 to 2005 it was near-universal in the UK. That leaves a lot of people who are too young or too old to have received it. Plus Heaf test reactors (mentioned before). And it is not expected to provide life-long immunity with various estimates like 15 years.

Just had a look at the members of the cabinet and realised how few of them are ever mentioned at the moment. https://members.parliament.uk/Government/Cabinet

I seem to remember some people ardently proclaiming that the UK could be a wet, North Sea version of Singapore. The phrase “Singapore-on-Thames” is shorthand for Britain becoming a low-tax, lightly regulated economy that can out-compete the sclerotic, over-regulated eurozone from a strategic...

Big decisions. Hmmm. Whiskas or Purina? Catch a mouse or sleep? Run madly or stop and wash? Friendly or rejecting all humans? I did write that Johnson should have properly handed over, albeit temporarily, rather than leaving this rather messy situation.

Yet the UK is managing to claim EU funds for repatriation flights for UK citizens (subjects) stuck around the world. Despite the UK sort-of no longer even being a member state. Which would appear to be more, and more concrete, than what the UK is doing for the EU or its constituent member states.

Have to say, I agree so much. The low levels of traffic (air, road, rail) are very much appreciated - despite being in an area that could only be regarded as tranquil compared to London area. If only we could wander around more freely - within, say, twenty miles. And paddle on the beach.

An interesting article in its own right. Even more so with the current situation of Johnson (even if not ventilated, even if not, technically, under intensive therapy). Learning to breathe again: the long road to recovery from Covid-19...

Figures. Charts. Statistics. Analysis. No. Being a FIGHTER is what counts! (Does someone think that Johnson is some sort of latterday Spitfire or Hurricane?) Interesting, and unpleasant, reading: UK will have Europe's worst coronavirus death toll, study predicts IHME analysis is disputed...

Did a stint as a hospital cleaner once. Some of it was hard physical work. Was on the heavy cleaning team and doing things like commissioning cleans for refurbished wards was non-stop hours of work with little relief. And deep clean of wards after infection was also knackering. I'm sure down...

Everything I have read suggests it combines being easy to set up and use with being easy to hack and abuse. That the cabinet could have chosen to use it is absolutely mindnumbingly dumb. The below is just one of many stories about its security-related issues. Zoom's end-to-end encryption isn't...
