    Battery charging anomalies

54.8V / 13 = 4.21V It's perfectly acceptable. when the charger's output has noload, the voltage you may read on its output terminals can be anything because it's in protected mode so if you want to measure the charger's output voltage, measure at the battery's output terminals. There is also...

Need help arranging 13s7p 52v battery pack into battery case I've bought.

I saw that you have now coloured both positive and negative ends of the cells and added the welding strips, it's very clear that you take great care. Congrats.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

those two are idiots. It's their kind of argument that gave us the Truss and Kwarteng mini-budget. As far back as the OBR was first setup, all their forecasts were wrong but they were less wrong than those of successive chancellors. The blackhole in government budget is endemic and always bigger...

New member - with questions !

you should consider the 48V TSDZ2 with throttle instead of 36V and no throttle. The TSDZ2 mechanical motor is the same for all versions. Tongsheng fit different set of LCD and controller according to customers requests. Basically, they have two controllers: with and without throttle, and each...

Need help arranging 13s7p 52v battery pack into battery case I've bought.

you need to be careful with the layout on the other side. Best draw the groupings with marker pen where you intend to group and post some pictures here for checking. Even though you are not selling the battery to someone else, it still pays to be extremely careful. Check and check again before...

Need help arranging 13s7p 52v battery pack into battery case I've bought.

for 13s7p, you group them to 6 blocks of 14 (2*7) plus one block of 7. Same on the underside. If you are not experienced, don't go there. There are a lot of cells in the pack, if your welding equipment is not up to scratch, and one of the inner welding spots fails, you'll lose the whole pack...

    Hello from South Glos

the 48V is better for steep hills thanks to the 30% higher voltage. You should be very careful with reprogramming if you choose to alter the original program. The BBS01 has less strong magnets compared to the BBS02 and BBSHD. When the magnets are saturated, like when you use the motor at...

    Hello from South Glos

Keep in mind that heat kills the controller and what produces excessive heat is when the motor runs in inefficient conditions such as running the motor on maximum throttle made even worse if in a wrong gear. This is the area where a hub kit is advantageous.

    Hello from South Glos

You can program more or less any BBS01/02 but beware of the limitations and voiding of your guarantee. The original program that Bafang loaded into the motor is safe and very usable. You can change the number of assist levels through the normal setup screen without needing the programming lead...

    Hello from South Glos

The 36V BBS01B is rock solid. The 48V version gives you about 30% more torque thanks to higher voltage so more suitable if you are heavy (18+st) or have very steep hills.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

European attention to fostering small manufacturing and engineering firms is something of a tradition that we don't have here. In the UK, business rates kill small opportunities.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I needed a tool for our workshop last week. I went to see a guy in Grainger Rd Industrial Estate in Southend for help. He worked in about 1500sqft workshop for god knows how many years. We worked with him for years but this was the first time I went to see him myself. The workshop is properly...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Markets expect BoE to match US Feds rates. Andrew Bailey did not, so they hammer the pound. That suits the government because that helps exporters. We have to show that we don't live above our means, that is more difficult for any government.

    A strange battery problem

The cause is likely due to one of the blocks in the serial chain is damaged. As soon as there is a load, the faulty block's voltage drops, the BMS will cut off the output. put the battery on a load directly between B+ and B-, then check the voltage of the balance wires to B-.

it's pedelec only, Fit the pedal sensor and the LCD, attach the wheel and the bag, connect up. It should take about 30 minutes. there is no throttle on the Brompton kit because we can't fit the brake sensors and keep the cables tidy.

From December, we'll have the 36V 10AH bag battery in stock. You can have the kit with this 1.2kg battery, good for about 30 miles from a full charge. The kit adds in total about 2.8kgs-3kgs to the bike, making the Brompton one of the lightest e-bikes around. Here are some photos for you...
