    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have written some 3500 posts ,and I don't believe I used those terms in any of them. The argument about "taking back control " is actually one I have sympathy with . The error though is the UK had not lost it. Every decision of consequence in the EU was with the consent of the UK Parliament...

But you do have to get it from somewhere. The UK cannot realistically feed itself. It didn't during WW2 ,it got significant amounts from Ireland and it still does now. You are correct that with money you can get everything available, but convienance matters. Getting those foodstuffs from further...

You don't have to go back to the 1970s. The default police car in Belfast today does not look dissimilar, except it is painted white. And Tommie, there are 8 times more people living in Paris than in all of NI.

It is Actually and please forgive me, but I thought the original pun was witty, perhaps I was only half right.

... Absolutely. In fairness it has been the growth of tourism, which has improved the quality of food in Irish restaurants. It used to be pretty dire. As relatives in Co.Kerry would tell me... (West Kerry is beautiful).. you can't eat the scenery.

I do agree the Backstop is intended as a temporary measure,up until something better is put in place. We have actually just today had confirmation that NI needs to be treated differently than mainland UK in matters agricultural. .. a case of an infectious disease was found in a NI farm...

I suspect that the Brexit debacle was also present in those questions. I had occasion some few years ago to go to the medical social services offices in Pontivy, for reclaims on some medical expenses. The EC111 card would have been in play. My engagement with the ladies in that office could not...

The food problem Ireland will face is totally different than that the UK might face. It is we will have a glut of Cheese, beef, unprocessed NI milk, mushrooms and a market hungry for them . Would one Prefer to be in a position of having money and no food or food and no money?. Anyway, the Brexit...

I do not believe there is any plan B . Or rather, the best the UK can hope for is an extension on Article 50 for an period of time. The judgement from the ECJ on Tuesday is critical. Were the May plan, with its manifest flaws passed, it would allow a breathing space. That would be it's major merit.

Project Fear was a brilliant put down, 100% to the marketeers who created the words. . A meaningless jumble of words denoting .. 1. Concerted effort or plan ..hence suggesting conspiracy and 2. fear ..so by definition anyone who opposes it must be brave. Once one uses it it is a word like...

..you obviously failed to read my post to the end. The disparity between RoI and UK was of the order of a factor of 10 ,during the economic war,,and of course the big British operations had maintained control of corporate entities Guinness, land leaseholds etc . ..much of which remained until...

That form outlines the current options. As long as you cling to the belief, that British involvement with the EU,is so important that the eu will abandon everything it has publicly stated for 3 years , that simple truth will elude you. Note that despite the note of optimism, option 2B, is still...

There are in fact two things. The comments from the AG of the ECJ ,were an opinion not a judgement ,which is expected next Tuesday. The second was his reference to "constitutional provisions" ,so how this is interpreted within a UK context, where there is no constitution is interesting. That...

No! trade would not cease under almost any scenario... Ascot would never be Ascot without the Champers and strawberries ..replacing it with Strongbow Cider would not be proper, nor would repairing ones Purdey shotguns in a French workshop, suita Belgian mangate... Those people will always...

You are excellent in finding these obscure explanations, and yet fail to see the forest for the trees. There is an interesting analysis by the LSE on why voters might change their mind... It brings to mind one of the machevellian principles.. unless the reasons and advantages for change are...

Such as a law, dating back 1200 years that one must be a member of a particular family and obey a specific religion to be head of state?.. No the questions as put may be simple but the consequences are profound, so in these cases, the Government put in place consultation fora over a few years...
