The development of the brand new 2020 Wispers... in Pictures!

Per side, 16 kg is a lot of groceries! They are aluminium and hand made which helps explain the price ticket of 147.89€ (shipping included) for a rear mudguard. Tubus Fly = 80€ + accessories + shipping SKS Bluemels 25€ + shipping (the front mudguard being useless clutter...) So the price...

    Battery ageing question.

No longer the case, this was true a couple of years ago: At the moment there is a glut of Lithium. A process to extract it from sea water isn't too far away as well. There is a Canadian company with a process that recovers most of the recyclable content of a Li-Ion battery. Last I heard they...

    Battery ageing question.

Most supermarkets in France have a used cell collecting box, all of my Li-Ion batteries go in there and off they go for recycling. I took my LiPo bricks to the local recycling place (déchetterie) and told the man they were charged to 3.8v/cell so quite dangerous. He said "Ok I'll not chuck them...

Hase Ketwiessel Recumbent Trike - TSDZ2 install - part completed

Why would you need a switch on a battery? Ah because you don't have any plugs, you've soldered everything together! :p IMVHO if there is a vehicle which needs plugs it is a trike. They make it easier to work on. But what would I know, I'm only going by personal experience...

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

Thanks! The beam photos look OK, the b+m has near light beam so you don't get the tyre shadow like that. That won't be true with 6v input but with the higher voltages why not.

    STVZO Lights (with lenses)

Got a link or two? I am willing to give one a go for 15 €.

    Front light options...

I have a couple of battery powered (AA cells) b+m headlights. The 70 lux one is perfect for the open road. The 70 lux + the 50 lux throws down a beam the is better than that of certain scooters I have owned... I use the 50 lux one around town, the beam is more adapted to paths than roads. For...

    Introducing the new Woosh Rambla

I get where you are coming from but those of us who need wide range cassettes will have to change for 9 speed anyway. Lets take as an example the popular Sunrace 11-40 cassette. I have the 8 speed version and it is missing a 28 tooth which is one of the gears I would use the most with a motor...

    Bafang 250W amazing range

I could have been gentler in my reply, I'll accept a yellow card and use "tough week at work" as an excuse. :) I have both types of motor. I have trouble being efficient with the mid drive because I have a high natural cadence and spin fast enough to get back EMF. On the other hand the hub...

    Bafang 250W amazing range

The motor, even a hub motor, is affected by the gear you are in. Unless you are riding a moped (throttle only). Initially I was also under the impression that because the motor is in the hub gears didn't matter but they do. On the same stretch of road being in the correct gear can save up to 2...

Rear hub motor. Step through. High torque. Suggestions appreciated.

I brought back 50+ kg from the garden center in my cheap "Chinese special" and there is a 15% gradient down just in front of my apartment, I have hydraulic front rim brake and Avid Digit on the rear. The secret is to brake from the top of the hill before picking up speed so I must have topped...

Rear hub motor. Step through. High torque. Suggestions appreciated.

That is a lot of weight in a bike trailer, most are only rated for 40 kg tops. Don't forget decent brakes (what goes up must come down...).

    Introducing the new Woosh Rambla

    1. Larger wheels (27.5) and 62 mm Super Moto X tyres 2. mono-shock front fork 3. the PAS Bafang motor not the torque sensor one 4. 9 speed not 8 speed, there is a better selection of cassettes for we who are gradient disadvantaged 5. NCX seatpost (at least as an option)

    Bafang 250W amazing range

The motor having to supply less Watts because you are pedalling in the correct gear won't be affected by the gear you have chosen? Do we have a new law of physics about to be published to an unsuspecting world?

Help! Removable ebike parts and security. Leaving displays on or off the bike?

Did you read the thread about the guy who had is rear derailleur nicked?... Nothing is safe in some parts but only serious injury worries me, material belongings can be replaced (and insured against theft).

Choosing a BMS for self made battery

Don't worry about a switch just use a spark resistant XT90 on the battery. I have been using stock XT60s for about 8000 km and the most exposed one has recently welded itself together so basically you will have about 4 years trouble free with original XT60 plugs. Don't buy cheap copies however!

    A Bit Slow!

My bike is heavier but the motor (GSM) has no significant drag. Of course there is a little drag, all those extra gears and bearings eat a little bit of energy, but not significant enough to be felt - a 2-3% increase is not like a 10% increase. You can however feel the extra weight especially if...

    Amazing what is out there

Rear view mirror not required on a motorbike? Can't see an exterior one and the rear window is all blocked up by groceries, especially the big box of Kellogs cereals.

    A Bit Slow!

Pedal harder? 32 kph is my flat route speed unassisted, easy to attain because I don't have to work much between 0 and 25 kph. If you use a high level of assist on the flat the motor will slingshot the bike to about the speed you want with very little effort and once there it is easy enough to...
