    Disillusioned

Thanks for the info. If you still within the 2 year window , you should complain to the shop and or the manufacturer. . You have it in writing that the battery should last more cycles. Otherwise I would suggest getting the battery rebuilt by one of the experts as listed by other posters and...

    Disillusioned

Thanks Enrico, Are you saying that you only got 16 miles from a 15 ampere hr 36 v battery full to empty and that after a total of 2880 miles (15 months x 4 weeks x 3 goes x 16 miles) the battery is only good for 6 miles or is it 10 miles. ( Battery down 30%).this implies 180 fills only...

    Problem with Powabyke Commuter Controller

Hi If it is the keyswitch, you could just replace it with a 20A toggle switch from a Maplin . They have them in their car accessories aisle. Quicker than buying from abroad. That is what I did when my keyswitch locked in the on position.

    the charging problem

Hi a camera battery is typically only 1 cell nominal 3.6v whereas a bike battery is a collection of up to 10 cells in series. So the arguement about charge balancing is relevent to a bike battery but not relevant for single cell devices The arguement s are different for different cell...

    Hi from Sunny Swindon

Hi For ease of use something like the Bosch powered Raleigh Motus would be hard to beat. See my and other peoples posts about it. You could easily afford it by selling one or other of your good bikes. Bromptons would be popular secondhand. Option 2 would be to stick a front hub motor onto...

    Problem with Powabyke Commuter Controller

Hi I do not know this controller , but I would certainly consider replacing components at random as unwise. Are you sure you are actually dealing with the controller itself .? The display and switches are not necessarily the controller . The electric sequence for an ebike is. Battery...

    Disillusioned

Hi an electric bike consists of three elements each costing about the same . A bike a battery and a motor so if the overall device costs 900 you might factor in each item costing 300. The bike and the motor are long lasting , albeit with some maintenance and repairs and the battery is the...

    Hub motor conversion

Hi Correct me if I am wrong but do not hub motors have two parts. 1 a central section which is bolted to the fixed element E.g the forks and through which the cables go and 2 a rotating element the hub to which the wheel rim is attached. Either removing the rim if fitted an attaching the...

250 watt is it a myth?

I would agree with oldtom. The modern derailleurs have a lot going for them. 1They now have click positioning and this is as definite as the hub gears.. each click on the control lever switches one position on the rear cassette, the 1970s types with lever arms were more prone to skipping. 2They...

250 watt is it a myth?

H Without knowing the construction of the motor we are both speculating,. Certainly a series wound motor would have max torque at zero rpm, a three phase induction motor will have max torque at about 5% below synchronous speed. On the other hand I would expect that the max torque...

250 watt is it a myth?

Hi combining two of your postings together, and restricting comments to the Bosch unit . According to a technical data sheet, on another website the Bosch active line unit specified at 250 w has a max rotational speed of 100 rpm and a max torque of 50 nm this would in theory give it a power...

    Frame and Wheels Dilemma

When talking about wheel size I am reminded about a person commenting about a neighbours dashhound. .. complaining that . His legs are to short ... the response ....What do you mean don't they reach the ground? There are competing advantages in wheels of different diameters small wheels ...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Hi To date nothing has changed in any legal sense, so it is difficult to see why standards updates have not been forwarded. The UK, is at present, a bono fide EU member state . As far as the EU bureaucracy is concerned, the UK is not even in the departure lounge. It would be instructive to find...

Making full use of having a battery

Hi sounds like a nice idea however the power levels are not suitable. The Bosch USB connector for example only allows 0.5a. And at 5v this is 2.5w max . The little compressor s in the car shops draw about 8a at 12v or around 100w. A better suggestion might be to put a voltage reducer on the...
