    Anyone using a Stromer ST2?

You can't pedal with a motorbike helmet on your head, that is what killed the moped in France. Yes they are as expensive as a quality motorbike helmet. They are motorbike helmet approved but with ventilation. You know how much a stromer ST2 costs so the helmet price shouldn't scare you... :D

Crank Drive - Stronger chain necessary? Gear change sensor worth having?

The OP is talking about a trike. Trike chains are 2.6 times longer than a bike chain. The extra length absorbs torque which is a bad thing when you don't have a motor and a good thing when you do have a motor. I don't see a gear sensor being particularly useful. Trike chains run a very long way...

    Hello

I have a double chainring on the GSM: 42-32. If you use a wide range cassette you will be able to tow 100kg. Stopping it will be another story... A "250 W" BPM hub motor with a 48V battery and a 25A controller would be a better solution. You keep your triple chainring and when you need it you...

    Haibike Sduro Hardseven Battery Consumption

Motors have two weak points: - Heat which can melt the nylon gears and affect the magnets or in extreme cases the insulation on the windings - Bearings Hot rodding a hub motor: "With the steel planetary gears and ATF lubrication, the ‘250W’ Bafang SWXH was able to survive astonishing power...

New Legal Speed Limit: What should it be?

Ah downhill! Now there my first bike reached 67 km/h and was kind of scary because it was too small for me. Number Two has never gone past 62 km/h regularly and is as solid as a rock, the Big Bens make it as reassuring as a motorbike at those speeds. Then we have the trike (which isn't a...

New Legal Speed Limit: What should it be?

My personal record on a road racing bike (Columbus frame, insane chainwheel...) and on a false flat (ever so slight downhill but head wind) at age 24 or so is 60 km/h (37.29 mph). Back then brakes and tyres were scary but in your 20's...

New Legal Speed Limit: What should it be?

I have a pedelec limited to 25 km/h (27km/h set on the LCD to compensate for the bigger tyres). That speed works for me everywhere except on the open road so I have changed my ride for a trike - it will go over the cut off much easier on the flat mostly because of better aerodynamics. The longer...

Crank Drive - Stronger chain necessary? Gear change sensor worth having?

I will be using standard nickel plated Wippermann Connex 8 speed chain with my GSM. E-bike chain might be a good idea if you are 10 speed or higher because the side plates are thinner. Do you have problems changing gear now? With a trike chain you don't have many problems with excess torque...

    Derailleur with 65 mm chainline

I have brought this subject up before and the solution to the offset is a problem savers direct high mount adaptor. All well and good but there isn't to my knowledge a direct mount front derailleur which accepts a 48 tooth (or 50 tooth) chainwheel. It only needs to be capable of a 16 tooth...
