    E bike battery..

60 kg is feather weight! I'm about 80 kg at the moment (christmas, bad weather stopping me from getting out, other excuses...) A 250W motor can give 1 HP equivalent 746W at 48v x 15 A give or take an Amp and 36v x 20 A. My 15 A controller gives just over that, if you look at the sticker most are...

    Electrical Ground

I put my hand into the fridge light socket to remove a blown bulb without unplugging the fridge. Someone had already removed it. Someone found me sitting on the floor on the other side of the kitchen... LiPo can be fun too

    Light switch

Yep I turn on the bike, the lights are hardwired to the controller power wires. I ride with the lights on 24/24, 7/7, twelve months a year. Helps a lot with priority at stop signs and roundabouts I have discovered.

How long do you expect an ebike to last before needing replacement?

The distinction concerning upgrades is between ready made and DIY. Much harder to upgrade the former. If I was buying a ready made e-bike I would want it to last 3 years at least - battery and motor bearings etc included. And I do 3600 km a year so the answer could be at least 10,000 km. Easy...

    Charging electric cars

If it was a Li-Ion battery fire they tend to have flames that shoot out of the battery box through the vents sort of like a flame thrower. In the photo of the Tesla higher up you can see the flames aren't touching the rear of the car. I think the passengers may have left the doors open when they...

How long do you expect an ebike to last before needing replacement?

Well... A 30Q HL internal controller battery is much better than a 2016 26F bottle battery IMHO.

How long do you expect an ebike to last before needing replacement?

My new trike has a 5 year guarantee on the frame, steering and seat, I expect it to last 10 years at least, I will take care of it. I think I will most probably put a Rohloff in for convenience (I seem to be confronted with more and more hill starts these days), they tend to last a very long...

Kit list for my trike - Opinions appreciated

OK that will work with this then which is what I have on the AZUB http://www.sunrace.com/en/products/detail/csm680 Real pain in the neck to set up with a front triple 48-38-26, it should be easier with the 48-32 on the GSM. On the other hand I have climbed +15% gradients unpowerd  and 7%...

    Which battery do I get?

I calculated that they are only 2€ more than the 30Q for more than a third more Ah so money wise they make sense.

    Which battery do I get?

https://www.nkon.nl/rechargeable/other/sanyo-ncr20700b-lithium-battery.html When I get a spot welder I will make a couple of 3P12S batteries from those and use either 1 on the upright or 2 in parallel on the trike so either 12.15 Ah or 24.3 Ah @ 44.4v. Equivalent to 70 to 143 km range locally...

My first choice would be the 36v 201 rpm Q100CST with a 48v battery and 17-20 A controller. That gives you 270 rpm and loads of torque because you are in a 20" wheel. Just get the motor and have it laced into a Halo T2 20" rim with Sapim strong spokes by a local wheel builder. This will be a...

    Upgrade my controller?

Samsung 26F is the keyword d8veh. Even in 5P those cells are incapable of giving 15 A constant without sagging badly.

I did that on my GSM. I did have some problems with the left crank arm working loose, seems OK now.

What you can do is get a second battery and connect them in parallel, you can climb mountains in assistance level 5 then :)

    Charging electric cars

Someone gave us one when we were students at design school. After checking we found someone had emptied a bag of sugar into the petrol tank (ah the days when filler caps weren't locked...) so it being a quiet sunday afternoon we cleaned the tank and rebuilt the carburetor. We towed it down to...
