    Brexit, for once some facts.

Fox can't do much until the we know which brexit we are going to get, if at all. Until then, the best he can do is to get a few countries to rollover EU's agreements. Fundamental to brexit is the cost of brexit. If we choose a low cost option, we will become non-voting member of the EU, like...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

only if TM gets her deal. The vultures are circling right now, waiting or her to announce her leaving date. The problem is she needs 70 MPs to switch side. Even with the help of the DUP, the numbers don't add up to 70. We are looking at next brexit date Dec 2020.

apparently, the DUP will climb down on Monday, ERG on Tuesday and TM ask MPs to vote on MV3 Wednesday.

they use about 8 times less electricity, I don't have to worry about the cost of leaving more lights on at night. if you leave 100W in incandescent bulb (1500 lumens) for a year, that would cost about £110 in electricity. You get the same number of lumens using 11W LED bulbs (1500 lumens), over...

Making a torque throttle instead of a speed throttle for a cheap controller

what is the advantage of maintaining constant current versus constant speed? When you ride on throttle, you just push more to go faster, intuitively. The bike reacts immediately with the change in the throttle's output then settles to higher speed. If you turn the throttle to current...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think the problem starts in the disconnection between the local population and the need of a functioning single market spread over 28 member states. Take the issue of maximum power for vacuum cleaners as an example. The EU imposes a maximum of power (800W) and noise level (80dB). The anti-EU...

Making a torque throttle instead of a speed throttle for a cheap controller

I tested on the Woosh Krieger (fitted with a CD motor), the speed is proportional to the rotation angle of the thumb lever throttle. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/2018/krieger-hdb/krieger-thumb-throttle.jpg

I have never checked. Member mechaniker should know though, he works for Lishui.

Just got an ebay kit. Good for London commute?

well said. legal kits are also lighter and more energy efficient. If you need high torque, I would recommend something like the Woosh 48V TSDZ2 kit. If you prefer to avoid shifting gears, the X08C kit.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

it's clearly stated in the Act that the referendum is advisory. Interpretation and delivery is clearly the job for MPs. what causes the chaos is the negotiating tactics of the DUP and the ERG. They believe that negotiation must be to the wire. Why brexiters don't blame them for the suspense and...

Making a torque throttle instead of a speed throttle for a cheap controller

The Lishui controllers that I use do not jerk the bike whatsoever when you start on throttle. Other controllers may behave differently.

I don't think it is the case. Only 80 MPs support a second referendum, 160 support WTO no matter what. The majority supports a soft brexit. The diffculty comes from the split inside the conservative party. They can't unite on one form of brexit.

you should therefore support a new vote where WTO brexit is one of the possible choices.

what's wrong with using the throttle the way it is at the moment?

they do different jobs. The electorate advises their MPs of their preferred choice but it is not capable of negotiating, changing laws etc. If the MPs find brexit too difficult to implement, then you can expect that brexit is delayed or people asked to vote again. BTW, I agree with JC's...

Making a torque throttle instead of a speed throttle for a cheap controller

I don't understand what you try to achieve. If your controller has a throttle input and you use a throttle, the controller responds to the throttle's voltage by matching the current to it. If you want to add the functionality of a throttle to a bike without one, then you need to add safeguards...

Increasing mid-drive's acceleration with bicycle parts only

you are going to waste your money on this. The acceleration is proportional to the square root of power, inversely proportional to the total weight of rider + bike. you can't increase acceleration by changing the front to rear gear ratio. The only way to mechanically increase acceleration is to...

Chinese e-bikes will get taxed at the same rate as EU made bikes. That's £150 less for Chinese bikes and £70 more for EU bikes.
