    Reduce Charger Voltage

You really need a 24.9 V charger if you want to keep your Lipos happy. I charged to 4.2 V per cell the first few times but after having read heaps of pages on Lipo now charge to 4.15 V. There really isn't a lot of energy in that extra 0.05 V so it doesn't affect your range much at all. And I now...

0-15mph acceleration of 250W electric bicycle?

With pedaling (I only have a pedelec to test with) under 4-5 seconds, I don't ride with a clock so that is from counting in my head. Healthy, reasonably fit 78 kg slightly asthmatic 61 year old man on +25 kg bike. I have stopped riding up hills at 25 km/h in order to save the battery and go...

Battery testing to the max :)

I wish I could but there is VERY bad music being piped into the street speakers just below my windows all day long and it has been going on for weeks... :( I have been drinking champagne for three days non stop and then you put up this "lipo is dangerous if crushed in a press" video and you want...

Battery testing to the max :)

What would the lipos have done without the penetrating object? You can't compare reactions if you use different methods to evaluate them. There were no Li-ion batteries "tested", they would have behaved like the lipos.

Battery testing to the max :)

Very scientific! Use a sharp perforating object on lipo and not on the other batteries in the test. Next time I ride my bike I'm going to drive nails through my battery before setting out to make it safe... Ho hum...

Transport Minster - new cycling policy?

So I have had Christmas with some Dutch people and asked about the cyclists who die without being in a accident with anyone else and the answer was: we have so many older cyclists they probably died of a heart attack while on their bike. The person wasn't sure if that is the official reason, it...

    Reuse Battery

a2b will be able to answer that question. Plugs are good, jamming wires a very bad idea... Back packs can be done but it isn't very comfortable and lots of plugging and unplugging. A rack and pannier isn't too bad (but then I am biased...) 250 W geared hub will be just fine and the weight in...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That should be "respect the will of the tiny majority of those who went out to vote". I do agree with tilson on one point: if you don't go out and vote you can't complain about the result. However a 52/48 split can hardly be called "the will of the people" whatever way you look at it from...

    Reuse Battery

If you can find the right plug to fit that socket and wire it correctly yes you can use it with a kit.

    The Berlin truck atrocity

There was a very interesting documentary on French TV tracing the history of these fanatical sects and their origins stemming from Saudi Arabia and wahhabism. The house of Saud basically used the wahhab sect for seating it's power as ruling family and has covered the crimes committed by the...

News: DfT consults on insurance for e-bikes & lawnmowers

s-class allows throttle only up to 20 km/h which is why it is classed as a moped in France. If it had been a "real" pedelec maybe things would have been different here? For the rest of the insurance problems mentioned I think you are getting a first glimpse of your post brexit world...

    36T front ring for Bafang BBS01 BBS02

Excellent ce spider Sly74, il marche aussi sur le GSM de chez Woosh, je vais commander d'autres tailles l'année prochaine. ;) Just saying, for those who don't speak French, that it is an excellent quality spider and also works with the GSM. I have 42 and 32 tooth chainwheels mounted, the front...

News: DfT consults on insurance for e-bikes & lawnmowers

It does, an e-bike with a throttle is a moped not a pedelec. The primary propulsion on a pedelec is the rider not the motor which is only there to assist.

News: DfT consults on insurance for e-bikes & lawnmowers

A pedelec isn't a motor vehicle, it is an electrically assisted bicycle. It doesn't have a throttle and the motor won't work until you ride it. It is insured the same way as any other bicycle is.

    1000 miles in a velomobile

For the moment they have the one mold and are laying up the CF by hand one body at a time. Can't see any cost savings to come there before the manufacturing process is improved. The $1100 is for the body which will fit many trikes. The under-body and fittings, wheel wells, tail and headrest/tail...
