    Mid drive conversion questions.

Seven gears are fine if they are the right ones. You can have 14 gears with a little more effort (or a lot more money).

Swapping Shimano Altus cassette for Tourney?

If they are both Hyperglide yes straight swap. The 12-32 is going to be my weapon of choice on "Number Two". Just have to decide whether to put a 50 or a 52 up front.

    Gsm vs bbs01

Yes I am betting that Lishui controller is a 12-15 Amp and EN15194 compliant one. The speed is very good news and logical, most 250 W motors have a top speed somewhere around 32 km/h.

    Gsm vs bbs01

Have you tried the motor with 16 or 17 Amps? Putting range over and above performance.

    Help Going Legal

Easy the OP had £3000 and went looking for an e-bike, fell in love with the Stromer (very easy to do) and the cunning sales person who is more interested in the OP's money than anything else may have forgotten some details during the sale...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

And we all understand why! What we don't understand now is all those night rides...

    Help Going Legal

Supernova and b+m are now supplying lights (dipping and or daytime running) and you need Magura disk brakes with brake light switches and motor bike style brake lever endings. The ST1 is type approved to the previous - before Jan 2016 - s-pedelec standard. I don't know what the Germans do about...

    Help Going Legal

My thought was that if you have an address on the continent you spend some time there - with your bike of course. But of course HMG has thought of all that. The French are more laxiste, I knew a couple in the Gers who had been driving on UK plates for several years...

    One thousand Km!

My little controller modification should work. I will cut the peak off the plastic cover and probably fill the hole with plywood (I don't have any carbon fibre in stock at the moment :D)which I will paint black. That will make it a nice discrete 1" high box which I will screw to the frame seat...

Why doesn't anyone make custom battery packs?

Are you the real James Bond? How did you get it in his food? We understand that you want to come out now about this to clear your conscience... :p

    Help Going Legal

We talked about this with flecc in another thread - tolerated was the conclusion. It fits in a EU class so in theory can be legally ridden on all EU roads. For the UK you need the mirror on the right hand side and a motorbike helmet. Here the point of law is that you have to have a residence on...

    Help Going Legal

Of course the other easier option is to ask your Stromer dealer to swap the rear wheel for a "250 W" version everything else is the same.

    Help Going Legal

Do you have an address on the continent? If so register it and insure it there. I can not see the police prosecuting you for riding an EU registered vehicle in the UK as long as you have the mirror on the correct side. Dipping headlight: you would have to ask Stromer to mount the new Supernova...

    Wisper 705se gear cogset repair

Other than brute force my preferred method is now to disassemble the freewheel to get to the body. Take the bearing cover off, remove the cogs (over a bucket stops ball bearings from rolling all over the place). Once you have access to the body you have more tool options. It is easier for you...

    Trike conversion to electric

Are you sure the mid motor won't fit in between the two bars? Or underneath? OK so maybe. Why not put the battery in the cargo box out of sight and out of the way? Yes long wires mean energy loss so just make them very thick.

    Montague Boston Ze

Is it just me or wouldn't one of their normal folding bikes with a mid-motor kit make more sense? I can see where you can fit a HL battery to that frame. What I like is being able to slip it into a bag and carry it on-board trains that don't carry bikes for free. And the wheels are the right...

Keep the bike porn coming shemozzle999 that bike has only one flaw, the bars should be drop bars and (two flaws) it needs a range extender battery.

Gear ratios Nexus Inter 8 hub

OK so I could take it down to an 18 or 19, I would like that. Yes I am still good for pedalling. For the moment :D. The day my strength goes out the window I can keep the bike and change the gear ratios! Thanks once again!
