1-1-2016 Today's Change in the Law.

Have any trade members explained to the Chinese that a controller/LCD combo that does not have user selectable wheel size and max speed settings would be required for EN15194 approval? While we are on it a one button trip reset, a light switch and assistance level selector are all that we need...

    Which conversion kit?

I would go for a rear wheel or mid drive kit if you have hills. I think that sometimes the roads in Edinburgh may be a wee bit slippery(...) front wheel drives weak point. Which frame style does she have? The low entry frames will require a rack mounted battery.

A good foldable ebike to commute to work

Bus = 2€, no bikes even folders except in bike bag i.e. invisible Train = 3.70€, bikes allowed but very few trains at interesting hours Which explains my choice to ride the whole 14 km to civilisation (a.k.a Spanish Basque Country) when I want/need to. On the other side Buses take up to two...

How on earth does he get away with this?

Don't forget that the top speed of a moped or s-pedelec is 45 kph. That is under all conditions, even pedalling down a steep hill or mountain with no motor assist. The top speed of a pedelec in similar conditions is as fast as the rider can go before getting scared or, in France, 90 kph which...

Wanted - sine wave controller from 09 bottle battery

I have bought the controller and it has arrived despite lots of faffing about at BMSBattery about how to ship it... It appears to have arrived from Belgium, do they have a warehouse there now? In any case no VAT was asked for. I have available for sale: 1 PAS, 8 magnet 2 thumb throttles (1...

    Smart Ebike

It is good for braking on long downhill runs. Quite useful if you live in the Alps etc. and you spend your life riding up and down mountain passes. Remember you charge at 42 V and 2 to 4 Amps. Regen provides many more Amps than that on steep down-hills which have to be dissipated as heat.

ebc kit twist grip throttle query

Turn you bike on after you get on it or before you get off... Even with PAS: I forgot to turn off once when putting the chain back on (back when I had the old crappy chainwheel), you only do it once!

    Gsm vs bbs01

How much help were you giving at that speed? I am still too scared of lipos to go down that path, especially charging them in my nice wooden appartement building built in the 1890's... I am looking at the deep discharge Li-Ion shrink wrap packs from BMS - either 15 or 20 A problem is no-name...

    ebike mid-drive kit without throttle?

The woosh GSM motor without controller does not need a throttle. The kit with internal controller does need one. The Bafang can be programmed to not require a throttle, eclipse should be able to do that. Or you need a programming cable and you do it yourself.

E-bike crashes into 2 elderly sisters. (Singapore)

Yesterday evening I actually saw a bike similar to that one - 16" wheels though. Motor looked like 1000W DD. Father with 7-8 year old daughter on the rear rack her feet in the air zipped off throttle only up to about 35-40 kph. Accident waiting to happen...

    Long Distance

From Sheldon: "at 32 km/h 53% of the energy goes into air resistance and 11% into rolling friction" Gearing is another factor, downhill even at my ripe old over 60 I think I can still pull a 50:12 ratio which is where the 10% difference of speed at cadence between 26" and 28" wheels comes into...

    Long Distance

Yes, my record is 100 km on a charge (around town on the flat) but common range is 65-70 km so under 50 miles. BUT! this is with a 10 A (374 Ah) battery. Extrapolating a 15 A battery should give me 62 miles range or so. I pedal a lot and am a reasonably fit 78 kg who averages just over 26 kph...
