    Li-ion Charger recommendations

no, don't do that. Lithium ion batteries need to be charged at constant current first, then when the battery is 90%+ full, switch over to constant voltage to finish. The BMS rebalances the cell pack when the battery is 99% full. Typically, Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide cells need at least...

Evans Cycles is urgently seeking a buyer

Evans shop in Chesterton Road used to be my favourite bike shop in Cambridge although I seldomly bought anything from them. The showroom was suberb, lots of very nice kits on display including a whole section devoted to Brompton. It was clearly elitist and successful I also frequented their shop...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

In that scenario, Scotland would benefit to join the Eurozone. A Scottish Pound can't defend itself against speculators like Soros vs the BoE.

No. There is an effect called cogging or magnetic binding on direct drive hub motors but not on geared hub motors.

in that case, the island will be reunited and maybe half a million Northern Irish would settle here. It would also prompt Scotland to secede.

30 very happy miles on my new Crossfuse!

the drag can come from two places: the cassette or the motor's bearings. put the bike on a stand, spin the cranks and wait for the wheel to stop. If the cogs on the cassette/chain move then the drag comes from the cassette. If not then the drag comes from the internal clutch unit or the motor's...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I reckon it's just a show for the public. She will announce plan B at the end of the month at the Conservative Conference in Birmingham. Then plan C in the third week of October. That's the real plan for an eventual deal. It'll all depends if she can persuade the DUP to accept some fudging.

interesting opinion in the Guardian: QUOTE: May consequently has two tasks. First, she must determine whether her government would survive opposition to an effective border in the Irish Sea from the DUP and Commons. But more important, she must decide whether she values the economic integrity...

Building a small (36v/8ah) bottle battery with BMS

you can't solder directly wires to the cells, the prewelded nickel tags solve that problem for you. Each cell weighs 63g, 20 cells + BMS + wires add up to about 1.5kgs. The good thing is they are small so can be hidden inside a normal bottle and still pack enough punch for a typical e-bike.

how is the view from the South? which is better? a hard border that is mostly automated (like Estonia) or a customs border in the Irish Sea (customs officers working on the ferries)?

are you talking about the Salzburg Summit? it's either TM's diplomatic blunder for frank talking to the Taoiseach or the slow realisation that the magical thinking of tory MPs is being shown up. I doubt that the EU has made a mistake. They can wait for years to come, we can't. When troubles...
