there is an LED on the pedal sensor. Height-wise on the seat tube, I can't see from your picture. If you think it's too low, move the sensor up a bit. As long as the magnets pass in front of the sensor, the LED should flash. I am a bit worried that the head is too far away from the disc though...

I usually run the waterproof cable next to the existing cable, under the top tube. I think it looks neater. I tuck the excess cable inside a large heat shrink tube and cabletie the heat shrink tube to the seat tube.
