    Batteries too expensive!!

they are not expensive. Lithium-ion batteries, especially the matured 18650 cells, are high tech products and the market is intensely competitive. You get excellent value for money. Always buy your battery with branded cells, the better quality control is well worth the premium. We use Samsung...

You can fit either motor to the two selected bikes. Everything is a trade-off, torque v weight. If you could come to Southend, I have 6 bikes that I reckon you would enjoy riding from the Woosh range. They are all different, only test rides will show up which one suits you best. The bike shop up...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

where do you get this from? black pudding is normally made with pig's blood, not cow's blood. Fresh blood carries high biological risks, there is an issue with sourcing but I don't think there is an EU directive forcing you to use dried pig blood.

    Bafang Max Drive

No, I haven't. We have no interest in s-pedelecs, preferring to concentrate our effort on developing normal pedelecs, so from that point of view, we are happy with the current UK regulations. On the issue of registration, if the product is legal then registering for Le1A or s-pedelec should be...

that I totally agree with, but you wrote in post #33, without the rigmarole of registering as a moped, without registration, it'll quickly become free for all.

I completely disagree. S-pedelecs has no place in leisure cycling, thus should not be allowed to mix with normal leisure cycling flow. They need to be registered and insured beside compulsory helmet wearing.

The SWXK2 and SWXU can fit any bike. If you want to fit the BPM, we need to make sure that your fork is suitable to take the torque and preferably have disc brake fitting. A rigid steel fork like this is strong and gives excellent damping. This kit is one of the earlier versions with the...

that's a rear hub motor. The denomination CST means the motor lid is fitted with an adapter for a cassette instead of threaded for fitting a freewheel. The classic range of 8-Fun (and Bafang) front hub motors comprises the SWXU (lightweight), SWXK2 (standard, used in our Sundowner), SWX02...

    Import Tariff Codes and Duty.

it seems that the leaflet from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturers and Exporters (cccme.org.cn) is just a piece of internal marketing. Don't read too much into this. Remember the steel dumping crisis last year? Not much is done to stop it because anti dumping is a very serious trade...

    ebike snobbery

it's only partially true. A lot of small changes are made to the frame and selection of components like brakes to take into account the extra torsion placed on the frame by unsprung weights (motor and battery) and the much higher kinetic energy that ebikes are capable of. Even among ebikes, the...

We have not heard any news from our suppliers regarding change of tariff. China is expecting to be recognized as a market economy from 2017 by WTO, it will be a lot more difficult to impose anti dumping on Chinese imports from now on. The 48.5% anti-dumping on bicycles will be reviewed in 2018...

    Disillusioned

Hi enrico, before you replace your old battery, you should get it checked or check it yourself for string imbalance. Your battery consists of aa string of 10 serially linked blocks. As you don't use the bike much, the blocks are not rebalanced often enough. One of them powers the battery...

the 45.8% anti dumping duty against Chinese bicycles is supposed to end in 2018 but the EU may put in place a system to extend it a bit longer. Not about e-bikes though. http://www.bike-eu.com/laws-regulations/nieuws/2016/11/eu-to-change-anti-dumping-rules-new-term-for-china-made-bikes-10128140
