Do members think it is possible to produce a decent e bike for £1k

I totally agree with caph. Our cheap bikes (like the £299 Angel) have practically indestructible steel rims and need almost no maintenance, often because they' re ridden like a motobike (on throttle alone). But they do look like something coming from mid 60s eastern Europe..... Some people...

You should wear stiletto heels all of you!

Do members think it is possible to produce a decent e bike for £1k

I agree with Jasono. The word 'decent' is very subjective. Someone who wants a £399 folding bike to nip down the ride to the shops once a day for his newspaper will probably find a lot of models out there which are very decent. 'Decent' to him means convenience, value for money and does its job...

Is the lithium air battery over hyped?

it probably is - but there is something attractive in the idea of connecting zillions of individual nanowire lithium batteries, like cells in a muscle tissue, to form a workable battery.

Which would be best? Or something completely different?

With £1000 budget, you could get a Woosh Sirocco or an Aspen, a saddle bag, two spare batteries (3.8kgs each) and still have some loose change. You would have a massive 1,080WH that would cover 100 mile trips with ease. It's just a thought. Regards

    Rear/front wheel power

It's front drive for me! Front wheel drive has advantages, often overlooked: - fully encased chain, virtually maintenance free like on this bike - motor is properly suspended, virtually eliminating accidental damage to rims, spokes and electronics when hitting kerbs etc - ideal for hire...

What is the future of E-bikes ?

e-mopeds are nearly as cheap to produce as e-bikes and yet, I can't see us ever selling them. Why? because they are just too heavy to pack!

    New lithium-ion battery concept

There may be an analogy with biology here. The human body has billions of cells, individually they don't do much but together, loads!

What is the future of E-bikes ?

it'll be good when bikes don't need chain!

What is the future of E-bikes ?

electric bikes are still not as reliable as cars - that's where they must improve. The point is that you don't want a super duper bike that needs looking after every few hundred miles, you want a bike that can be used more like a washing machine.

    Best Folding E Bike

Thank you Roger! So you don't wish for a Woosh, eddieo? But for anyone interested: Range of the Gale: 30-40 miles on flat roads with throttle control, more with pedal assist (same as for our Sirocco). Also comes with with Bafang 8-Fun motor, 36V 10AH LiPo battery from PICC and a Lishui...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Me too. Although our Sundowner only has 7-speed :( The thing about derailleurs is not only they look fiddly and are fiddly, the chain has black grease!

Pedelec Function - How it works and how to configure it

Hi Jerry, I am not technical but I've been told that you can mount the pedelec disc on either side of the bottom bracket. When the disc is on the opposite side, the sensor faces the opposite pole on the disc but because its own polarity is also reversed (for being mounted on the 'wrong' side)...

Bike reviews - Minimum post count

Hi all, I work for Woosh Bikes, a relatively new outfit (2 years old). I am generally in agreement with what has been said but can I make a suggestion? Instead of reviews being written by people who have used the bike perhaps for only a few weeks (if not days), why not get long established...

    Tesco Folding Hopper 20" e-Bike

Hi all I work for Woosh Bikes and we do a 20 inch folder with 36V 7.5A lithium battery for £389 and free delivery. Goes like the clappers! But is a a small frame size, so not really good for anyone over 5 ft 5" or 13 stone and good for short trips, probably not ideal for long hikes. Woosh Mono...

    Deflated ... or what?

Hi all, I am a new member here and this is my first post so please forgive me if I appear naive! I answer the phone calls at Woosh Bikes and sometimes come across customers who don't feel happy about looking after their own bike... a bit like davanti here really. I'd like to reassure davanti...
