Looking to buy Specialised Turbo. Can i have it re flashed?

Holy cow, I haven't signed in for 6 months and KTM industries still bolloxxing on about his dongle. Kind of destroying this forum, especially the 'off road' section.

Has anyone sought single vehicle approval and insurance, for a 250-1000w 15.5mph ebike?

It depends how much time you want to put into it and if you find that sort of thing enjoyable or not. The MSVA in only in the UK and there isnt much difference between getting a 1000w bike through and a 10,000w bike through. Each aspect involves a lot of head scratching; i.e brake lever end...

Has anyone sought single vehicle approval and insurance, for a 250-1000w 15.5mph ebike?

I've just put an ebike through as a motorbike and it was indeed a PITA. I started the process in December and am still waiting on the registration as the original MSVA certificate got lost. The DVLA are pretty disorganised at the moment with lots of test centres closing. There are many...

    Where do I buy spokes?

There are numerous sellers on ali express who will make spokes to exact size and normally despatch them pretty fast. or pay the extra for express delivery. I've never had a problem using them...

    supercapacitors + battery

The rule is, never above 4.2v never below 2.7v however once they get to around 3.2v the drop is rapid and pretty hard for them to survive if drained right down.

    supercapacitors + battery

These calculators are based on laws of physics. Because the exact windings of your motor aren't known and along with other variables, they will always only be a ball park figure. Like you say, I have loads of puffed lipos, however they are the ones that i have either ridden down too low, or...

    supercapacitors + battery

A shameful copy and paste There is a thing called Peukerts effect, basically the SLA has a high number which means the higher the discharge the lower the capacity the battery will supply, an SLA at a 10C discharge will supply less than half its nameplate capacity where as a Lipo will supply...

    supercapacitors + battery

Here's an interesting one to calculate SLA vs other cell types http://www.ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html If you use the simulator above and have the same settings (motor 9c, controller 20a etc) they choose Battery type SLA 48v 12ah. Then choose custom battery 48v 12ah with a lowish internal...

Mid drive kit with 15ah rack battery best place to buy?

My Jetstream was chained to a post in Paris for 3 yrs, come rain, snow and sunshine. Replace anything quick release with security torx bolts and waterproof the controller to the max. infact, replace ALL the bolts with security torx bolts.

Mid drive kit with 15ah rack battery best place to buy?

A backpack full of lipo and a banned breed dog to chain to the bike, would do it.

    Where do I buy spokes?

I bought a pack from China when living in France about 5 yrs ago. I forget what I had to pay but it was def above 50euros. Won't bore you with the details, other than it went back and forth a few times for repair and each time I had it returned, i got stung again for taxes and duty. I think...

Mid drive kit with 15ah rack battery best place to buy?

I'm in the middle of building some 22" bmx wheels for my jetstream. They just about fit the frame and forks. No idea how its going to ride but should be fun.

    supercapacitors + battery

I don't know much about capacitors but understand what you're trying to do. If price wasn't in the equation, then the same space taken up by your LA's could be used for more quality lipo in parallel, which at 20amps continuous shouldn't run into that much peukert effect? Maybe I'm wrong, where...

    supercapacitors + battery

Jimmy, have you got any pics of your build of late? Even though it's less of a headache to just buy power ready componants, I'm still interested in squeezing the max out of a basic ebay kit. The lesson learn can then be transferred upwards and onward...

    oil cooling info needed please

Resistance can be measured by using the OHM function on a multimeter. With your Turnigy watt meter, it's own shunt resistance will have already been factory calibrated, so no need to bother. It's harder to measure the shunt resistance inside a motor controller, in order to then put that info...

    oil cooling info needed please

Yep, that meter is the same as the Wattsup I mentioned and also the GT power one. They will give an accurate reading as the shunt is somehow contained within the meter so is specific for it. All these meters really do, is measure the voltage of the battery, then measure the amount of amps...

    Hydraulic Disc brake conversion adaptor

hehe count yourself lucky, i ordered 50 of these converters only to find there was a non ISO type, going to make some art work with them.

    oil cooling info needed please

Arh ok, your's is a different model controller than the one I was looking at, so you could well be seeing those power levels. 66v would be pushing it to the limit and it could well blow. Depending upon the battery you are using, 60V nominal would be the max that i'd try but may blow even then...

I'm not sure how accurate the reading of 50a is, how are you monitoring it? You may have to do a shunt calibration as I think its only a 23A rated controller?
