Hello! It's a good day today as the bike works a treat. The problem was the + and - plate was on the wrong way round. I unscrewed the box under the prongs and could see the red and black wires to determine that red was positive and black negative so turned it 180 degrees and everything fired...

I just tried, it didn't work. I think you misunderstood one part, the battery LED comes on when it's set to off but only if I push the red on/off button otherwise there are no green LED's lit up. If I don't touch the red on/off button and I turn to key to all positions, no LED lights come on...
