Hi I have just bought an everest electric mountain bike, with a 24v 10ah li ion battery, I have found the same type of battery on ebay but its only in 36v guise, would I be able to use the 36v battery as a replacement,

Can you post a link to the battery on eBay?
Have looked into doing this myself on a Cyclamatic, but in the end decided against it, due to the uncertainty of it actually working and potential reliability issues.
Probably would have ended in tears :(
Will have a look at the battery and see if there are other 24v replacements.
Assuming that you are replacing a battery at the end of its life and not looking for extra power of course ;)

Some things you will need to work out: can the bike controller handle 36v, what provides the low voltage cutoff for the battery? The internal BMS or the controller...if the controller then you are stuck unless you can come up with another low voltage cutoff scheme.
