Hi All

Ivw not touched an iron for years, I used to do a lot of very small PCB work with a pencil iron and some work with a standard iron for bike stuff, it struggled with the Blue EC5 connections, Iknow see most people are using XT60 or XT90 for bigger cables.

Is there a reasonably priced variable solder station out there that the solder spool can sut in to wind off?

Also do I need a bit air blower for heatshrink, I’ve just used self amalg /insulation tape in the past.

Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks

He means a heat gun like a paint stripper gun, one can use a hair dryer on the hottest setting.

Yihua soldering stations work just fine, the 937D is good. Temeperature adjustable, rubber type leads on the iron, replacement irons and bits in a variety of sizes are cheap.

You can ge them with a hot air blower designed for surface mount soldering and that is useful for heat shrink too.

But you can get a gas powered portable hot air blower such as the irada-micro-therm;

Which might be more useful since you can use it most anywhere, except near flamable gas\liquid.
