A friend of mine bought a Decathlon "original 700" pedelec on summer sale for 699€ down from 999€ http://www.decathlon.co.uk/original-700-electric-bike-id_8328554.html and it won't climb our hills in town. He wants to go to his shop and back from his home 5 km away daily, with some beach cruising on his day off.

It has a front wheel bafang motor (haven't checked the reference yet) and (this is the source of the problem I think) a 24V battery. The controller/LCD set three speed levels not power levels.

Question 1: is there an advanced screen on the LCD where I can see if everything is set up correctly i.e. wheel diameter, swap from speed to power level?

Question 2: if I throw a 36V battery at it will the hill climbing problem go away? https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-battery/766-36v16ah-case-02-samsung-icr18650-32a-battery-pack-battery.html

TIA

Tony

are you sure it's a 24V battery he's got?
that bmsbattery pack has a sine-wave controller with Hall - you will need to check that the existing motor also has Hall and 9-pin motor cable.

If your motor has the right connector for your motor, that BMSB kit will be perfect for what you want. It will give literally double the climbing torque and 50% more speed.
