This is possibly the last organised 'fun' ride for this year, although subject to getting hold of a suitable bike, and increasing my own fitness level, I'm currently contemplating taking part in a competitive winter three round cyclocross series.

I had arranged to be back out riding again with the KTM mounted lads again, but that is looking slightly doubtful at the moment as one is supposed to out on a road race, and another has a back injury. I hope that it does come off, as it was such a good laugh last time, and I'd also hoped to drag a further couple of other local KTM mounted riders out from the woodwork, to make up an even bigger group. I'm even toying with idea of letting someone else use my superb Macina Lycan, and I'll follow up behind on my KTM Ultra 1964. I guess that owning a brand of bike, you tend to notice others riding the same, and I'm beginning to notice quite an increase of KTM bikes at these events. :)

It would also be good to see SRS and WT out there with us as well. :)

The ride itself is pretty un inspiring, and I can't remember anything overly challenging about it the last time that I rode it, although it does have some superb and fast downhill sections, which should prove interesting given how wet that things have been of late.

I'm down for the epic route.

A fine brace of KTM's at the recent Biggin Hill event. It would be good to get the numbers up

Eddie would love to come along but my dingy club calls.
I've manage to get out of my twice a year duties until now. I shall be serving bacon butties etc all day, not that I can cook anything edible.

Not sure if WT has entered but you may bump into him.

I have downloaded the gpx file of the epic route and intend to ride as soon as possible just to check to out.

Took the Haibike out on Sunday, daughter on tagalong but more importantly, Kerrie my partner came along on my recently returned KTM. She can't stop raving about it. I picked a pretty mud free route of around 12 miles. I am well chuffed she liked it and look forward to riding together some more. Not all the time of course.

You must really have the bug if you are contemplating competitive cyclocross. Good luck if you manage to get on the rides.

Hope to catch up for a ride soon.

I'm so glad that you partner enjoyed getting out as well. I'd love mine to tag along on some light rides with me. Sadly her sense of balance on a bike is not good. I've tried to convince her that a KTM MACINA Compact 8 would be ideal for her, but so far she is not biting on it.
It's a great hobby to have as a family, especially when you live in such a superb area. Hopefully next summer you can all get out for some late summer afternoon rides up there. The SD on a summers evening are perfect. :)

Next time then. :)

Well that came around quickly. :)

Things didn't quite go according to plan for today's ride that myself and SRS took part in. We missed the course split, and very annoyingly ended up completing the shorter 22 mile route. We can only assume that someone must have been stopped in front of the sign when we reached it.
SRS was once again very good company to ride with, and the route was a very good one, albeit very wet and slippery.
I took one very gently tumble whilst crossing a root, but jumped back up quick enough not to be noticed by SRS. :D
There really isn't much more that can be said about today, and as ever, it was good to be out getting muddy. :)

Sadly the other KTM lads didn't make the ride, but there's always another day.

Still waiting fro the new camera to arrive.

What a pity you missed out some of the route. Still, I guess that unfortunate occurance was kinder to your knees and back so hopefully they will be ready for another ride sooner. I know you have the fancy GPS console but have no idea if you can load routes in, but if you have a smartphone have you considered using a program to load in the pre-defined route and just check it occasionally to make sure you are still on track? I did something similar with ViewRanger and the Verderer's Trail at the FoD, which made me confident I had not missed a turn off.

I notice that although your bike is muddy, it's only mildly so for your standards, lol!

It was not anywhere near as muddy as the dorset trip but still more than enough of it. Lots of slippery chalk patches too.
I do have a Satmap that I thought about using but decided to rely on Eddie seeing the signs instead. As we now know, Eddie didn't spot the signs.

Only jesting.

A little disappointing but a good ride and in good company anyway.

I Look forward to the next one.

You should have said SRS, all that I could see was your bum in front of me!

The next one is a very good one. Amberley chalk pits on the 28th Feb.

TC, as SRS has said, it more slippery than muddy, but what mud that there was, stuck like glue. At one point, my rear wheel wouldn't even turn.

The bike was still pretty muddy by the end of it though.

22 miles and over half of the battery life left. Sport is showing as I had a quick play when I got back home after the ride. I completed the ride in a mix of no assist, eco, and one short climb in tour.
