Battery problem

I have a 10ah 36v Li-ion battery that has been satisfactorily powering a Cyclotricity conversion kit for almost 18 months.
Recently, I found that it would not take a charge- the charger lamp staying green after connection.

I tried another charger with the same result.

I then sent the battery back to Cyclotricity for testing and they said that they found no problem with charging and returned it to me.

I now find that the battery will take a charge.

Could someone explain what is happening / how to stop it happening again ?

Thankyou

Probably the charge fuse had blown and they replaced it.

Thanks for the rapid responses.
Would the charging fuse be inside the battery ?

I see that there is a 30 amp blade type fuse on the outside near the power connection to the bike.

I don't understand the term balance charged.

My thought was that the transport halfway across England had been a bit rough and had caused something to move, which might be consistent with Cyclotricity having done "nothing" to get it working

Thanks again for your help
