*scurries to shed - has a good look at bike* Sadly I have to agree with Mussels, due to the geometry of the frame, there is no central mounting point - which is what this brake type requires, so it's V-brakes only I'm afraid :(

thanks dudes,
i was have a bit of a contemplate with my bike in hand trying to find out why stopping is not as swift as i would like
a. its heaver than normal bikes
b. no sure about this one could just be my bike and advice would be appreciated . The wheels seams to be of centre against the bike and brakes this makes balancing them a pest. is this just me looking at my bike for too long

I have put a bid on thease
i am hopping they will work(if i win)

You should have V brakes, the side pull brakes wouldn't fit even if you had the mounting holes.
With most V brakes there should be two adjusting screws on the arms themselves, these screws bear directly on the springs, tightening one whilst loosening the opposite should move the brakes across nicely.
Even on a relatively heavy e-bike it should still be possible to set V brakes so as to throw you over the bars when used aggressively, so you shouldn't see much loss of stopping power.
People always think that heavy bikes stop slower than light ones, but as weight increases so does the friction with the road, were more friction helps to slow you down and counteracts the extra momentum....bhlaa bhlaa bhlaa..., it works mathematically.
Fit the rim brakes you've bid on (they need proper setting up) and you will stop!
A cheap option if you miss out is to buy a supply of good soft brake blocks, once you get the hang of setting them you shouldn't have any problems.

thanks Andrew and Mussels (i shall watch out for the rims)

i have been using rim wranglers as the blocks and i have been using the, screws at the sides to balance the brakes on has to be screwed quite far in as it seems the wheels are closer to one fork than they are to the other

the problem is no mater how hard i squeeze the brakes they squeal but i still have a few meters to go before i stop.
what brakes blocks do you recommend, are there better insets for the rim wranglers, if i win the hydraulics i am only considering them for the front as i dont want ti ware out my rear wheel (where the motor is mounted).

thanks again

The squeal can be fixed by twisting the blocks slightly, so the front of the pad contact the rim first, and also by cleaning the rims with something like windolene. Also, fine adjustment of the brakes so both blocks hit the rim at the same time is important.

On the subject if brake inserts, I use Clarks MTB blocks in my RW2s.

You can get them cheaper at Chain Reaction, but their picture is wrong :) .

phase one complete avid singe 10s installed,
I now can use the back brake to stop quite quickly (and now it even locks if i pull tight).
my hs33 will be getting installed on the front at the weekend (with a bit luck) and then i should have a going fast /stopping fast machine :)

Good news & and bad news.

good news
I have applied the hs33 and now have a stopping machine i have never felt stopping like it (i am going to have watch and not go over the handle bars)
I am now so so happy with the performance of my bike.

band news
While putting on the brake leaver, i stretched the accelerator cable and the red wire that connects to a transistor broke at the transistor arm.
oops!

How much is a new accelerator.

Contact Norman, Wisper service engineer. You can find his E-mail address on the Wisper website. Just click on the Wisper banner on the right hand side of the screen.

If you have a front junction box, make sure Norman is aware of this.

Expect to pay around £24 including P&P

Yep!. The red kill button failed "open", a three mile ride home without power, including some hills. In an attempt at a roadside repair (without the benefit of a schematic) I managed to blow the living daylights out of the controller as well.

Cool got the throttle installed now Big thanks to Wisper for getting that to me.
and all is well

as a result i can now say Magura HS33 make a very very big difference(for me) to the braking of the bike.

thanks davidk

How did you sorted out the brake sensor? hs33 is hydraulic so i assume it is rather quite difficult to fit the sensor on the master cylinder???

i changed my ridding stile to fit
I pull the back brake first all the time now ;)

but i would still recommend these to any one with a heavy bike.

quick thought... I wonder If the 50Cycles dudes carry spare leavers for there fancy German bikes that rock the hs33 hmmm?
