Hi I have the Wisper 905 eco. Planning to go away this summer. I already have roof bars but need to find a cycle carrier that can hold the bike - It weights about 19kg without batery and all the halfords carriers only allow up to 15kg - anyone have a recommendation?

I have one of these (Or something very similar):2 Bike Tow Bar Car Carrier Rack | eBay

Advantages: Cheap (£15!), easy to store, robust, quick to fit.
Disadvantages: Need a towball, can't tow while using it, may need a lightboard.

I normally use it for single bike/short journeys but I have used it for two bikes/long journeys. I always remove the batteries before putting the bike(s) on the rack.

I cannot have a toe-bar on my Prius but found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toyota-Prius-Specific-Carrier-Wiring/dp/B004W1NN4I/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=ATPGLOSW4J40C - Note, the car shown is not a Prius so they may do one for your car. Half hour to fit the bits under the car, 30 seconds to put (less the electrics) on or take off and takes up less space that others. Hope this helps.

Without a doubt, a towbar mounted Thule rack is the best, particularly this model specifically designed for electric bikes and with 60 Kg carrying capacity Thule EuroPower 916 - Thule

The downside, it isn't cheap especially if you don't have a towbar.

Blimey, that's cheap - I paid £20 second-hand for mine & I reckon it's the same one!

You really should have a lightboard, but I only use mine locally - have a 75kg/3bike capacity one for distance work.

Having roof rails, I always put a couple of straps from rail to crossbar - Belt & braces

Have to agree. We bit the bullet and bought a Thule, crossing fingers that it would not be a regretted decision - it's proved to be a blessing and a boon! Rock solid and fool-proof.
NB Fool-proof is a major consideration for us!

Halfords | Halfords Rear High Mount 3 Cycle Carrier Strap Fitting
Max. number of bikes carried: 3
Type of cycle carrier: Rear Mounted
Load capacity (kg): 45kg
Buy a 2 or 3 bike one, I have one of these and have loaded 3 bikes onto a vw golf pretty much as pictured. Just had to strap it on and then a few miles later we pulled into a petrol station to see if it was as secure as it had been when we left home before flying down the motorway. Make sure to secure the top straps more or the rack can/will slip down, the lowest straps don't take weight but keep it centered.

edit - oh and high up ones like this don't obscure numberplates and lights if mounted correctly, is harder to pick the right rack without knowing the type/shape of car
